NYS Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors

The Conference is comprised of local mental hygiene directors and commissioners in all of the 57 counties and the City of New York.

The New York State Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors is a statewide membership organization that was statutorily incorporated under Article 41 of the Mental Hygiene Law in 1976. The conference advances state and local policies, practices, laws, regulation and funding for the purpose of ensuring comprehensive, integrated and cost-effective systems of care to meet the needs of those perso

ns, and their families, affected by mental illness, developmental disability and/or chemical dependency.

CLMHD is excited to announce the launch of Year 3 of the Mental Health First Aid in Higher Education/Harm Reduction Project!

In partnership with Office of Mental Health and NYS OASAS, we are expanding this important initiative to eight New York colleges — with a new focus on vocational, technical, and profession-specific programs, where students are preparing for careers with elevated risks of su***de, trauma exposure, and substance use.

Since the project launched, more than 650 students, faculty, and staff have been trained to recognize and respond to mental health and substance use challenges. This year, we're building on that momentum.
