February is National Cancer Prevention Month, a powerful reminder that every small step we take today can create a healthier tomorrow.

While cancer affects so many of our families, friends, and communities, we also know this truth: prevention and early detection save lives.

This month encourages all of us to pause, reflect, and recommit to caring for our health by staying up to date on screenings, choosing healthy habits, and supporting those who may be facing a cancer diagnosis.

💙 The Cancer Services Program provides NO COST cancer screening to eligible uninsured New Yorkers for breast, cervical and colore**al cancers. We remove financial and access barriers, because EVERYONE deserves the chance to detect cancer early, when treatment is often most successful.

If you, a loved one, or someone in your community could benefit, CSP is here to help!! Call us today at (518) 525-8680. 💙

💜 World Cancer Day 💜

Today, we honor every individual whose life has been touched by cancer.

In the Cancer Services Program, our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that every person has access to life saving cancer screenings, support, and education no matter their circumstances.

To our partners, providers, and the communities we serve thank you for walking beside us, spreading awareness, and helping us break down barriers to care.

On this World Cancer Day, let’s recommit to reaching every New Yorker with the message that help is here, hope is here, and no one faces cancer alone.

An alarming study was released by the American Cancer Society and JAMA last week which shows that colore**al cancer is now the LEADING cause of cancer deaths in Americans under 50.

Colore**al cancer is preventable, and highly treatable when detected early — often up to a 90% survival rate if caught at stage I.

But younger adults tend to be diagnosed later because:

⚠️ They may dismiss symptoms
⚠️ Providers may not initially suspect cancer
⚠️ Screening traditionally began at older ages

Many of these individuals have no family history or obvious risk factors.

SO, WHAT ARE SOME SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS I SHOULD BE AWARE OF?

👉 Persistent change in bowel habits
👉 Narrow or pencil-thin stools
👉 Diarrhea or constipation
👉 Blood in the stool, re**al bleeding (blood may appear as bright red blood or dark stools)
👉 Persistent abdominal pain or discomfort, such as cramps or bloating
👉 Feeling that your bowel doesn't empty completely
👉 Unexplained weight loss
👉 Fatigue, tiredness, or weakness
