The Westmere Fire Department will be hosting a community seminar on Alzheimer's Disease. The seminar will be held on March 25, 2026 at 6pm at the📍Westmere Fire Station located at 1741 Western Ave.

Overview: An engaging and supportive educational program for community members living with Alzheimer’s Disease or related Dementias, as well as their care partners.

Participants will:
⭐Develop a deeper understanding of Alzheimer’s Disease and related Dementias
⭐Learn to recognize common warning signs and better understand disease progression
⭐Explore local resources, services, and support options available to individuals and families

Earlier today, Guilderland EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a car off the roadway in the town of Knox. This was a complex scene that required a highly coordinated effort from multiple emergency and law enforcement agencies.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our partners for their assistance on-site:

🔹 FIRE & EMS: Knox Volunteer Fire Company and Helderberg Ambulance Squad
🔹 LAW ENFORCEMENT: New York State Police , Albany County Sheriffs Office , New York State Park Police
🔹 AERO-MEDICAL: LifeNet of New York
🔹 DISPATCH: Albany County Communications, Guilderland Police Communications

Two patients were treated at the scene; one was transported via ground ambulance and the other via helicopter.

The safety of our community is a team effort, and we are grateful for the seamless cooperation between all agencies involved.

The Albany Medical Center EMS Fellowship is hosting a casual, round-table style training that brings prehospital providers and ER physicians together to focus on what truly matters in hemorrhage control.

Topic Focus:
🩸 Read to Stop the Bleed
💉 Blood products & TXA
🚑 Real-world decision-making from scene to ED

This is not a lecture.
It’s an open discussion where EMS experience matters, questions are encouraged, and we work through how bleeding control decisions impact patient care before the hospital doors — and after.

If you carry tourniquets, administer TXA, or think about blood on scene, you belong at the table.

We’re proud to recognize the outstanding efforts of two of our dedicated team members, Tiffany and Mikayla. Recently, they organized a staff-wide donation drive, collected essential hygiene items and necessities, and delivered them to the City Mission of Schenectady, an organization serving our unhoused neighbors. It is with sorrow and regret that we learned of Paramedic Kevin Robert’s unexpected passing yesterday. Kevin was a flight medic for LifeNet of New York and a paramedic at Malta-Stillwater EMS, and our thoughts are with our brothers and sisters as well as his family. Kevin was a member of our family many years ago and has left an everlasting impression on us. He will be missed.
