Abortion is still safe and legal in New York because of the 2019 passage of the Reproductive Health Act, but we know many are without access across this country.

More than 25 million women of reproductive age live in states with abortion bans since our federal right to abortion was taken away in 2022.

State abortion bans have caused the preventable deaths of women who were denied lifesaving care. Pregnancy-related deaths are nearly 2x higher in states with abortion bans; Black women are more than 3x more likely to die of pregnancy-related complications.

Each day we live under abortion bans, more people suffer and die. Medically unqualified lawmakers have no business in our health care decisions.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Padriac Hegan, the beloved husband of Chelly Hegan, UHPP President and CEO. Padriac was an incredible volunteer and advocate for Planned Parenthood, always wearing the gear, showing up for events, and offering his support. He was deeply proud of the work we do and of his loving wife’s unwavering dedication to reproductive freedom for all. Padriac will be greatly missed by our community.

REMINDER:
Group programming and changes to the Pride Center's activities and locations.

Until further notice, our programs/groups that have been held at the Pride Center on Hudson Ave will now be held at the Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood Community Room (3rd Floor), located at 855 Central Ave, Albany.

We are deeply grateful to our friends at Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood, who generously offered up this amazing space for our use. There is ample parking, it is accessible (with an elevator), and it's located on a bus line - allowing for uninterrupted programming in a safe, easy-access location.

Thank you to UHPP for making this possible. We are stronger together.
