Friends ~ below you will find an Action Alert that is jointly supported by the CPAO and ORA. Please use the link included in the text below to add your voice to the effort opposing SB1505. THEN, pass this information along to your staff, self advocates, families, etc…anyone that may be in support of our position on this issue. Our goal is to flood the legislature with opposition.
Action Alert! Senate Bill 1505 is a major threat to the unique, individualized services that community provider organizations offer.
Join your voice today to the opposition of SB 1505. Email the Oregon Senate using this quick and easy advocacy tool and urge them to vote no on SB 1505. Then share this message with your team and community and broaden the reach of our message.
If passed, SB 1505 will create a “Workforce Standards Board” that moves decision-making about IDD services from the hands of those who use and provide these services to a limited board.
SB 1505 adds another costly layer of bureaucracy to an already heavily regulated system, diverting resources from direct support professionals to administrative overhead while duplicating currently existing oversight.
It could set confusing standards for wages and benefits that cannot be met without additional legislative funding, even when we know that IDD funding is already at least 30% behind recommendations from the recent Wage and Rate study. This is where the focus should be, not on paying for a new, unnecessary state bureaucracy.
There are serious concerns that the proposed board will fail to recognize the unique nature of our services, cause significant confusion and frustration to our workforce, and reduce choice for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We are urging legislators to oppose this bill.

When an active campaign is in progress, you'll find options that allow you to advocate for services for Oregonians with disabilities with just a couple of clicks.
