Because of a heating issue, residents last week had to move to other campuses temporarily. But that won’t stop us from continuing to celebrate our people. The Taylor Glen team helped us celebrate Tom while he’s staying there.

The team has worked hard this week to ensure the safety and comfort of our Taylor House residents. Because of a heating issue, residents were relocated temporarily this week.

The rest of our residents are relocating today to Ardenwoods in Arden and Spring Arbor of Albemarle.

We are so thankful for the support and understanding of the residents and their families as we have had to temporarily move them because of a heating issue.

And a huge thank-you to the hard-working team who are ensuring the comfort and safety of residents during this time.

Residents began relocating to our sister campuses Brookridge Life Plan Community and Taylor Glen Life Plan Community earlier today.

Buses picked them up from Taylor Glen and transported them to their new campuses where they were welcomed by local teams. Pictured, ThriveMore President and CEO Reed VanderSlik and Brookridge Executive Director Tatum Myers helped residents off the bus.

The plan is for the rest of the residents to move to their new temporary homes tomorrow.

An important update about Taylor House from ThriveMore:

Today and tomorrow, Taylor House residents are being relocated to other campuses because of a heating system failure. It was determined that moving was necessary to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our residents and team members until a new boiler is installed.

The boiler failed in December 2025 and we immediately ordered a new one and added the recommended supplementary heat sources to the building. We added two more heat sources before the recent inclement weather, but the temperatures in resident rooms still weren’t consistent enough. So with the persistent cold weather we are experiencing in North Carolina, it was decided that for the safety and comfort of our residents and team everyone would move until the boiler is installed in March.

All residents and their families as well as team members have been notified. Today we began facilitating the moves to our sister campuses Ardenwoods, Brookridge, and Taylor Glen, as well as Spring Arbor of Albemarle. Team members are being welcomed to our sister campuses during this time and being provided transportation or a reimbursement for travel expenses.

We’re so thankful for our team’s flexibility in this challenging transition and applaud everyone’s dedication to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents. Thank you for understanding as we’ve had to make this change, and we look forward to moving back in once the new boiler is installed.
