Not many stories capture the spirit of Taylor House quite like Joyce Puckett’s. Her connection to the historic building in Albemarle began in 1946. Born here when it was Yadkin Hospital, Joyce returned decades later to support her mother in 2014, and now she calls Taylor House home herself.

“I love it here,” she said of ThriveMore’s assisted living home, adding that when her mom was a resident she already knew this is where she would like to live when she needed the support. “I had told Ginger [Harris], I said, ‘When it’s my time, I’m coming back here, so save me a room.’”

Although Joyce was born in Albemarle, she spent much of her adult life in Virginia before moving back in 2019. Her children live nearby so she said they are happy she’s made her home at Taylor House since 2021.

Santa came to visit residents yesterday. He has been bringing holiday cheer every Christmas — all because of a longstanding connection.

Rickey McKie might be Santa now, but when he was a young child he would runn through the halls of Taylor House while his mom styled hair at the salon.

Your Thriving Taylor House Community traveled to Southern Supreme Fruitcake & MORE, Bear Creek, NC for our Annual Pre-Thanksgiving Trip! 🦃🎉😁

First, We enjoyed a delicious brunch at Golden Corral, Ashboro, NC...We timed it just right! We had the best of both breakfast and lunch! 🥓🥩🥚🥗🌭🥞

Afterwards, We cruised on to Southern Supreme. There we were welcomed with smiling faces, had an amazing tour, a sampling of their yummy goodness, and shopped for items to bring back home to share! 🍫🍬🍭🍰🥜🍒

Southern Supreme celebrates over 40yrs of operation and we look forward to this trip every year! 👍🚍🌐

The eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, marks the moment that the Armies of Germany surrendered to the allied armies following the “War to End All Wars,” World War I.

The next year, to commemorate this occasion, the United States of America began to observe this day as Veteran’s Day.

This is the day that we stop all operations to honor those who have served this nation in protecting our way of life. 🎉🇺🇸

Today, the residents of The Taylor House chose to observe the event by attending the Veteran’s Day Parade in Oakboro, NC. We had a front row seat to honor veterans by waving and thanking them for their many sacrifices.

We watched as the West Stanly High School JROTC marched by with their color guard. The American Legion had several floats in the parade. The Disabled American Veterans were represented by a car the Daughters of The American Revolution had a float as well, and the West Stanly High School Marching Band played patriotic tunes as they gallantly led the day.

We make this post to salute all the veterans of this nation, but we especially recognize our veterans here at Taylor House. 🫂🏡🎉🇺🇸❤️
