TLDR (but it's worth reading to the end cause there's a surprise...😉):
HOT TAKE: our homes are sentient. 🤷♀️
Of course every house I've lived in, has been haunted. 👻 I'm a medium, afterall. 😅
But my ability to perceive had little to do with it.
So many assume something traumatic has to happen for a "haunt" to occur - death, abuse, rage.
But memories call spirit back to a place, and over the years, even the ones we add to four walls create palpable energy.
Good.
Or bad.
My apartment in downtown Des Moines had a little girl who liked to whisper and turn the faucets on at night. Fun fact: I almost moved into a unit that had JUST had a death *in it*. A story for another time (ask me!) but you have to ask: would I have "come out" sooner if I had moved in there? 🤔😂
My house in Humeston held a sinister energy... one that even bled into my relationship at the time.
The 200 year old farm house my little {big} family lives in now hosts a protective and sometimes intimidating woman and a man who regularly has to be checked. She likes the stairs and well, he's kinda scary. 🤷♀️😂
Of course, now that I'm "out" our own spirits visit us, too. Just last week, my beloved Aspen was in the boys room. 🥰
Even "Normie" homes need cleansed.
Out with the old. In with the new.
That's energy.
And we're all here because we know energy isn't well... nothing.
Honor your homes.
Whether it's big, and old, and grandiose - or small, and quaint, and leaving a lot to be desired.
More than likely, it's somewhere in the middle - a lot like mine.
And more than likely, it's housing more than just your family and your laughter and tears. It has memories of it's own.
This looks like:
"Hello again, I'm home!"
"It feels good in here today, thank you for that."
This looks like clearing the air, quite literally, after fights or especially stressful or tense weeks.
It also looks like celebrating how it makes you feel and what it does for you. Regular cleaning and practices that promote energetic flow, help with this.
Talk to your home.
It will absolutely talk back. ✨️
