Since when did feeding scraps become demonized by society?
I grew up in the 80's (born 78') and my parents got me a puppy at like 3 ish.
Just a mutt terrier dog of some sort. I named it Baby.
Anyways her diet consisted of a can of wet food in the morning and then she ate our leftovers throughout the day and evening time.
Her favorite foods were scrambled eggs and popcorn. She could sniff out both and would beg for them.
I loved feeding her more than I was allowed to because I was just a kid that didn't know any better and loved her reaction to getting fed.
But she got fed all the goods from our meals.
That dog lived to be 15 or so and only passed because of an intentional accident in the neighborhood.
Today that kind of treatment is frowned upon. In some regards it's probably a good thing as our typical Western diet is not healthy for us let alone a dog. Additives, fake foods, seed oils đ€ź
I bring this up because this was a normal way for dogs to live for centuries. And when their keepers didn't have food they'd go hunt for some.
We still advocate for raw feeding only as it's canine species appropriate.
But understand that the veterinarian complex has sold a big fat lie to dog owners. Kibble "IS NOT" the best and only food to feed your dog.
It's literally the last food you should feed them. Go ahead and feed your scraps to your dogs.... It literally tenfold better than that bag of diseased crud.
