In the southwest, they don’t eat a lot of sweet potato pie. They eat sweet potatoes, but they don’t do sweet potato pot. So during the holidays, this is a dessert I love to cook and share with family and friends and with my neighbors.

Some people say it’s too sweet. I think it’s a bit savory and sweet, but I think it’s the perfect dessert to have in a small amount with a shot of bourbon or an old-fashioned when you are relaxing for the evening.

This is my personal recipe for a sweet potato pie during the holidays. I specifically made this for single fathers to make it easy to make a good dessert for the holidays for the kids. However, ladies feel free to use as well. All are welcomed.

So I wanted to make some more gingerbread, and these are bourbon, cardamom gingerbread cookies with a hint of maple.

The icing is a royal icing with bourbon and maple syrup.
