Here’s why plain water is usually the better choice 👇

🚿 1. It Cleans Without Damaging Healthy Tissue
Hydrogen peroxide and alcohol don’t just kill bacteria — they also kill the body’s healthy healing cells (fibroblasts and white blood cells). Clean, running water gently flushes out dirt, debris, and bacteria without harming those important new cells.

🧬 2. It Promotes Faster Healing
When tissue is irritated or dried out by alcohol or peroxide, it takes longer for new skin to form. Water keeps the wound moist and clean, creating a better environment for natural healing.

🩹 3. It Hurts Less and Still Works
Peroxide and alcohol sting because they’re caustic — they damage cells. Water, or sterile saline, cleans just as effectively for mild-to-moderate wounds without pain or extra damage.

When you have a nosebleed, you should lean forward, not backward, for a few very important reasons.

1. Leaning forward keeps blood from going down your throat
2. It helps you breathe easier

✅ Correct first aid for a nosebleed
-Sit up and lean forward slightly.
-Pinch the soft part of your nose (just below the bridge) for 10–15 minutes continuously.
-Breathe through your mouth.
-After it stops, avoid blowing your nose or bending down for several hours.

Butterfly Bandages Pull the Skin Together

A butterfly bandage has a narrow middle and wide ends — shaped like a butterfly’s wings.
-The sticky ends attach to the skin on either side of the cut.
-The narrow center sits directly over the wound.
-When applied properly, it pulls the skin edges together, closing the gap just like stitches would.

By holding the wound edges in place, the skin can heal cleanly and evenly, instead of forming a raised or wide scar.

Coughing Means Air Is Still Moving.

When someone can cough, speak, or breathe at all, it means their airway is only partially blocked, not fully obstructed. That cough is their body’s natural defense mechanism — it’s using powerful bursts of air from the lungs to force the object upward and out.

If you interrupt that process (by hitting their back too early or trying the Heimlich), you could accidentally:
-Push the object deeper into the airway
-Turn a partial blockage into a complete blockage

Using a needle to remove a splinter seems like a quick solution, but it can actually make the situation much worse.

1. It can introduce bacteria into the wound
2. You can push the splinter deeper
3. It causes unnecessary pain and skin damage

Tweezers are safer and more precise

The right way to remove a splinter is:
-Wash your hands.
-Clean the area with an antiseptic wipe.
-Use clean tweezers to grab the end of the splinter.
-Pull it straight out.
-Clean again and cover with a bandage if needed.
