Congratulations to Jacob and Mariyah on the birth of their baby girl Violet! This little lady wasted no time coming into the world. Mariyah called me around 1 pm that day to tell that labor was well on its way but that she and Jacob were managing fine and she would keep me posted. Shortly before 3pm I got a text from her asking me to join them and within the next hour and a half we had a brand new baby! Anxiously waiting with grandma for Violet’s arrival was big brother Sebastian! This was the second home birth for Soothing Presence Birth Services, thank you to Rachel at Enchanted Moments Birth Services for referring me to this beautiful family!

After birth hormone levels shift rapidly.
Estrogen and progesterone, both high during pregnancy, drop significantly once the placenta is born. For many parents this sudden change can feel intense during the early postpartum days. The placenta contains hormones and nutrients from pregnancy and some parents choose to consume it as a way to gently support their bodies as hormone levels adjust after birth.

I’ve supported families who were looking for:

✨ Overflowing With Gratitude ✨

Lately I’ve found myself reflecting on this sacred doula journey that has carried me closer to the heart of what it means to serve, to witness and to love. And the emotion that rises up again and again is gratitude.

To the families who have trusted me with their most vulnerable, powerful, life-changing moments… THANK YOU! You’ve invited me into your birth spaces, your anxieties, your triumphs, your tears and your raw strength. You’ve allowed me to hold space for you as you brought your babies earthside and each birth I’ve attended has left a mark on my heart. Each postpartum moment shared, each late-night message, each tiny newborn sigh; these memories stay with me. They remind me why I show up with my whole heart every single time.

And now, stepping into the beginning of my placenta encapsulation journey, I am humbled all over again. It feels like another layer of devotion to the families I support, another way to nurture, care for and to honor the postpartum transition. I don’t take this step lightly. I feel the weight and the privilege of this work, and I’m deeply moved by the trust already offered to me.

Here’s to growth, healing, motherhood in all its forms and to the beautiful threads of connection that continue to guide my path!
