Many people in Albuquerque are quietly navigating a lot right now.

Stress.
Grief.
Anxiety.
Burnout.
Major life changes.

And often it can feel like you’re supposed to just “handle it” and keep moving.

But a lot of what people experience during these times isn’t a personal weakness — it’s the nervous system responding to prolonged stress or loss.

When the nervous system has been under pressure for too long, it can show up as:

• anxiety or constant tension
• emotional overwhelm
• exhaustion or burnout
• difficulty concentrating
• feeling stuck in survival mode

One thing I’ve learned from working in mental health is that many of the struggles people experience aren’t personal failures.

Often they are signs that the nervous system has been under stress for a long time.

This can show up in many ways, such as:

• burnout
• grief
• emotional overwhelm
• brain fog during menopause
• trauma patterns that show up in the body

When people begin to understand what their nervous system is doing—and why—it can bring a lot of clarity and self-compassion.

Here are the spaces that currently exist:

• integrative mental health and holistic wellness
• deeper discussions around trauma integration and theta brain states

These aren’t therapy groups.

They’re education-based communities where people can ask questions, learn about how the brain and nervous system work, and connect with others navigating similar things.
