Eira of the Mountain Massage

Eira of the Mountain Massage Eira ("mercy") is a Norse goddess of healing. She knew the secret powers of herbs. She taught the art of healing only to women.

She is the patroness of health-care workers, called on against sickness or injury. She is one of the goddesses on the mountain called Lyfia ("to heal through magic"). I'm a certified and licensed massage therapist in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I earned my certification at the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics. Eira of the Mountain Massage and Natural Therapeutics is located in the Nob Hill Area of Albuquerque, NM.

Got a clicky, painful knee? NSAIDs are usually the first line of defense for inflammatory pain, but they can be hard on the stomach and liver. Herbs may not be the first thing you think of for knee pain, but you might consider giving ashwagandha a try. (Yes, this is my third post on this herb but I just love it!) Ashwagandha has been used for arthritis in India for centuries and modern science has confirmed that it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. In a recent clinical trial where patients between the ages of 40 and 70 were experiencing mild to moderate physical limitations due to knee pain, the participants found significant improvement while taking ashwagandha. I love it when a botanical treatment that has been used for such a long time for a specific condition is also supported by modern science.
