Weekly Counselor Wisdom:A cosmic truth bomb:That glowing beast? The Sun.A fiery star 1.3 million times bigger than Earth....

Weekly Counselor Wisdom:

A cosmic truth bomb:

That glowing beast?
The Sun.
A fiery star 1.3 million times bigger than Earth.

That speck?
That’s you.
With your deadlines.
Your heartbreaks.
Your overthinking.
Your need to win that argument.
Be liked. Be right. Be seen.

But the universe?
It’s not watching.
It’s not judging.
It’s just expanding.

So here’s the real flex:
Emotional intelligence is not about being calm.
It’s about context.

You weren’t invited? Okay.

They misunderstood you? Breathe.

Things didn’t go your way? Zoom out.

Because in this grand celestial playground...
Every fight, every fear, every fame—
is a flicker.

And yet—
your empathy can ripple.
Your forgiveness can echo.
Your presence can shift someone’s orbit.

So ask yourself:
Am I shrinking into the noise?
Or expanding into the space?

Because the Sun never screams for attention.
It just shines.
So can you.

I am a relational counselor. I believe in cultivating an environment of love, warmth, empathy, and compassion conducive to healing. My counseling practice is one where I build a humanistic rapport with my clients. I do not believe in a one-size fit approach. Succinctly, my approach embodies compassion, gentleness, active listening, validation, and culturally responsive care for my clients. In other words, this means I hold the umbrella for my clients and acknowledge each person's culture and identity, beliefs, and values are inherently unique and are valued in this space you and I share. To hold an umbrella means embracing all journeys. I realize healing is the bravest investment one can make for themselves. Being vulnerable and working on yourself does not come easy. Therefore, providing a safe space for individuals to show up as themselves authentically is what I value most; I do this by taking a collaborative approach. As an individual with an invisible disability, poet, and 2nd-Generation Filipinx American, defining my truth empowers me to want to empower others so they, too, can find their truth, voice, and power.

Wellness tip for the day:
1. Read this Affirmation meme from the top or read from the bottom. Either way, these have words of wisdom to fill your cup.
2. Invest in yourself for 2025. Adulting can be hard. It is an investment to talk to someone outside of your family or friends. Doing so can allow you to be present and make wise decisions. Talk to a counselor such as myself to explore boundaries and patterns that can allow you to be your best self.

Over on that other space where I create things - we've had a month of talking about . Talking about things that drain us vs things that recharge us.
But I also wanted to take a moment to talk about some of the bigger things that drain us.
I LOVE talking about but it's also so important that there's an acknowledgment of the many things that impact our ability to "Fill Up Our Cup". There are so many things (in and out of our control) that drain us in a multitude of little ways. 🩷
