Tom Golder began his Navy service in 1955 and dedicated the next 30 years to his military career, eventually rising to the rank of Captain. He did not serve in any wartime conflicts, but when asked about his experience, he simply smiled and said, “It was fun.”

Max L. Henson joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 through a special pilot-training program designed to recruit new aviators. He entered just before the end of the Korean War, so he was never deployed, but his time in the Air Force allowed him to achieve his dream of becoming a pilot—a skill he carried throughout his life, owning an airplane for many years.
