conducted two free skin cancer screenings in Taos last weekend and was able to reassure and educate those who attended about normal skin findings and signs of skin cancer. These free screenings are pivotal in our state as many would not have been able to access Derm services otherwise. Thank you to Schreiber Family Medicine and Taos Ski Valley for hosting us, the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center Shannon Shaw Fund, AAD Spot Me Skin Cancer campaign, and our very own Ryan F. Daniell Memorial Fund for making these important community initiatives possible, as well as our excellent learner volunteers. Look forward to details about our next screenings happening in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho on May 2! ⛱️🏔️☀️

was privileged to join the UNM HSC DEI Native American Healthcare Career Expo last month. Dr Samantha Herbert (PGY-2), Dr Larimar Rodriguez (PGY-3), Dr Aimee Smidt (Professor & Chair), Dr Kim Artounian (PGY-4), and Oma Edeh (UNMSOM MD PhD Candidate) led attendees through a series of workshops ranging from suturing, dermoscopy, and punch biopsies. We look forward to doing this every year to continue to reach traditionally underserved populations in our communities. It is through initiatives like this that we are truly transforming Dermatology in NM. 🏜️

is so proud of our very own Dr. Nikifor Konstantinov who was honored with the George Kennedy HATS Off award in February. Dr K, as a alumni, was granted this award which highlights humanism, activism, talent and service for MD, PA and MD/PhD students. He and VA faculty Dr. Chuck Phillips also graciously put one of their “famous” song renditions together for the awards ceremony. Congratulations, Dr Konstantinov! 👏🏼
