This is NOT unsolicited advice. This is unsolicited BEGGING and PLEADING. Here goes: Teachers, please do everything you can to think beyond individual classes and start thinking about month-long series’ and curriculums. You’ll BURN OUT LESS, your STUDENTS WILL LEARN MORE and you’ll increase STUDENT RETENTION. Yes, this absolutely works with drop-in classes and open-enrollment.

I’m being honest when I tell you this: nothing in my teaching career made me a better teacher with more consistent students than committing to this process over a decade ago. IT’S TIME AS A CULTURE TO MOVE BEYOND CLASS-TO-CLASS THINKING AND EMBRACE STRATEGIES THAT HELP OUR STUDENTS LEARN MORE IN THE LONG RUN.

Let’s do this together. Okay, that’s it, I’m not groveling any further.
