Relocating from New York, I made the decision to attend the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics to get certified. I have gained the trust of a group of regular, repeat clients who tell me they don't want to work with anyone else, that no one gets the results we do together. I currently work out of the NM School of Natural Therapeutics in Nob Hill. - Gwen Goldsmith, Certified Colon Hydrotherapist

This is Part 33 and the final chapter from - More on how to "diagnose" your turds, from "What's Your Poo Telling You? by Josh Richman and Anish Sheth, M.D.:

"Today we continue sharing insights so you can demystify the inner workings of the digestive tract and explain your health by what you see in the toilet bowl.

Curtain Call: aka Overtime, Groundhog Day, The Remix

"Sometimes you finish defecating, wipe, pull up your pants, flush the toilet, and suddenly feel a stomach grumble. Despite the fact that you thought you were done with your business, your GI tract is ostensibly ringing the bell for Round 2, and you need to get back in the ring. If you don't answer the call, things could get ugly, fast.

Yet another instance in which the sequel turns out not to be as good as the original. This poo most often occurs as a result of a normal physiologic process termed the MMC, or migrating motor complex. Occurring at 90-minute intervals, the MMC is a massive sweeping motion of the colon that quickly propels stool downstream (picture a huge tidal wave crashing ashore). If one of these waves happens to "refill" the re**um after you thought you finished the deed, there's nothing to do but unleash the second edition. On the bright side, at lease the toilet seat will be warm

However, the feeling of constantly needing to empty one's bowels, known as tenesmus, could be a sign of a serious underlying medical condition. When accompanied by re**al pain and bleeding, this most unpleasant sensation can be the first sign of an intestinal inflammation, most commonly a result of either ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease."

Popular Netflix Documentary Does Us All a Disservice

Bias!!!
Episode 1: Most people don't go through labor-intense food preparations (juicing) for the fun of it! When doctors and prescriptions fail to deliver relief, people suffer and have nowhere to turn. I was one of them.

I was ill throughout my teens and twenties from having been overdosed with penicillin as a child for recurring infections in my tonsils. The result was a poorly functioning biome (gut bacteria) that did not restore me to natural health. I tried dozens of doctors, then depleted my savings chasing remedies, felt betrayed because I didn't get better through modern pharmacology, I decided I had to go old-school because I had exhausted all other avenues.

Juicing healed all kinds of illness for so many reasons - mostly because the nutrition is organic, its not genetically modified, and is a whole, unprocessed food. This is the stuff our bodies were born to be fueled by. All processed convenience foods ultimately rob us of what we need to be healthy. Mega-dosing with micronutrients in juice restores our depleted system very quickly.

I have also learned that our bodies have a hard time letting go of the toxins. The human body detoxes each night during the REM cycle, but only if you stop eating early enough in the evening to allow time for your body to digest your food properly. Our system has a hierarchy. We must digest before we eliminate each night. So if you eat late (including a small snack before bed) and then don't sleep enough hours, your body doesn't have time to let go of all the toxins before you wake up and start the new day. Cumulatively, if you don't detox most nights because you are up too late, and sleep too little, you keep storing more and more toxins until your system stops working properly.

However, if you stop eating by let's say 7pm, and go to bed by 11:00pm, you have already been digesting for 4 hours. By 1:00am, (6 hours later) you have digested most of your slowest-to-process food (usually meats) and now have from 1:00am til let's say 7:00am (6 more hours) for your brain to tell your organs it is now time to detox and send the waste into the intestine for elimination, first thing in the morning. Which, by the way, only works well if you are well hydrated, and properly lubricated in the colon. If one of these factors is out of balance, your f***s are dry, hard, sticky and now you have incomplete bowel movements. The left-behind f***s dry up. The toxins are reabsorbed (autointoxication) and you feel sluggish, foggy and all your bodily systems don't work well. That is when a Colonic is a life-saver.

All the doctors in this doc say colonics are dangerous and wash away the necessary healthy-bacteria our bodies need to function properly. Ridiculous. You can eat a food rich in probiotics after the colonic (sauerkraut, brined pickles, fermented miso, etc) or take a probiotic capsule, and restore your gut biome bacteria to a healthy level immediately.

Doctors are threatened by colonics because they make you so healthy, you don't need the doctor much anymore and they can't pay back their medical-school loans. That's what's really going on. It's a true betrayal of the hippocratic oath. Their agenda to scare the public away from colonics robs chronically ill people of a simple, natural and inexpensive solution. That's criminal in my book.

Juice. Cleanse (Colonic). Repeat. Also eat whole foods and stop being lazy and eating out every meal. Restaurants are in the business of making a profit, not of nourishing you and your children. Take back your life. Spend time shopping for organic food, preparing it (a great creative expression), and then enjoying it with loved ones.

How wonderful would it be if someone would do a "response" documentary, debunking all this supposed-debunking? I'm ready to do the interviewing if someone wants to produce it.

The Sit vs. The Squat (part 2)

"Squatting is actually a more effective way of expelling stool than sitting on a toilet seat. A quick review of the physiology of defecation will illustrate this. The re**um is the storage site for stool prior to evacuation. It normally has a tortuous and windy course (picture San Francisco's Lombard Street) that must undergo straightening in order for stool to make its way through the a**l ca**l prior to expulsion from the body. The act of squatting changes the orientation of a group of muscles called the levator ani, which actually serves to stretch open the accordion-shaped re**um. This creates a "straight shot" for the poo to effortlessly make its way out of the body. Just as some naturalists have touted the benefits of breast-feeding and natural childbirth, there is a burgeoning movement that believes squatting can improve digestive health. Not to mention the fact that squatting, also known as the bombardier method, will give you quads of steel."

On New Years Day, I made a vision board to help me get clear about my intention to build a treatment room onto my home. This image is part of that dreaming and visioning. It is only 8 months later and these are exactly the kind of reviews I have been getting from new clients about my new treatment space and the colonics they get from me. This is MY Field Of Dreams!

"Today we continue sharing insights so you can demystify the inner workings of the digestive tract and explain your health by what you see in the toilet bowl.

The Sit vs. The Squat (part 1)

"For many of us, the act of squatting to "do the deed" conjures up images of less-fortunate children living in societies that lack modern plumbing. For others, stooping to poo has a more nostalgic significance, serving as a remind of those quick dashes into the bushes for a country dump while camping.

The act of squatting, while seemingly rudimentary, can be fraught with great danger. As the novice squatter begins his descent, he becomes increasingly preoccupied with maintaining his balance while simultaneously ensuring that the stool's trajectory will avoid his pants, socks and shoes. Inexperienced squatters who are accustomed to the 90-degree angle formed while sitting on the toilet may attempt to re-create this formation during squatting. Unfortunately, this leaves a great distance between poo deployment and landing and dramatically increases the risk of inadvertent lower-extremity soiling. An a**logy can be drawn from the world of skydiving, where it is commonly taught that the higher you are when deploying a parachute, the less predictable your landing site will be.

Bottom line? When forced to squat, low is the way to go."

The Ritual Poo, aka: Rite of Passage, Palm Poo, Calendar Crap

"This poo occurs at the same time each day. Due to the clockwork nature of this poo, you can prepare by having a newspaper ready and your favorite bathroom location scoped out ahead of time. The regularity of these poos may provide comfort in an otherwise unpredictable world.

Just as the sun will rise, the early morning ritual poo can be a great start to the day. Some experience this poo only after consuming their ritual morning coffee (caffeine works as a laxative by increasing the colon's contractions). For others, the poo trigger is fired after each meal. This "postpriandial" poo is caused by the gastrocolic reflex, where distension of the stomach by meal contents causes a reflex stimulation of the intestines, moving stool into the re**um and giving us the urge to defecate. (Translation: Out with the old, in with the new.) Need proof of this biological truth? Check out the bathroom stalls at work about a half-hour after lunch."

A Recent 5-Star Review from a client on YELP
5/17/2019

"Gwen is the best!

Five years ago, I underwent two surgeries to cure excruciating pain in my colon - a direct effect from being too stressed. As a man, I've never enjoyed any sort of a**l play, but after my system was overcome with toxicity, I desperately needed to cleanse through colonics.

I have explored other colonic administrators. One was so scary, she was not sensitive to the fact that insertion can be more difficult for me than most. So I do have perspective.

With Gwen, she is always compassionate, patient, and kind. The energy felt around her somehow puts me at ease, greatly helping with my discomforts and fears. But most astounding... because I'm so comfortable with Gwen I release far more!"
