A low-income senior living in Crownpoint, New Mexico lost her home and belongings in a house fire. She has diabetes and trouble getting around, and the fire destroyed all of her medical equipment. This put her health and safety at risk, but she could not afford to replace the items on her own.

She was working with the Community Health Representative (CHR) Outreach Program, which helped arrange care and transportation. CHR staff traveled to Albuquerque to get the equipment she needed through Adelante's Back in Use program.

Back in Use provided a hospital bed, shower chair, walker, transfer board, and raised toilet seat. These items helped her move safely, manage her health, and take care of her daily needs while she recovered and worked toward stable housing.

This story shows how important it is to provide medical equipment to people in need, and how Back in Use works with other organizations to support rural communities.

Back in Use wants to ensure people get the support they need during difficult times. Your donations of devices and financial gifts make this work possible.

đź’» Laptops needed! Nearly 100 people with disabilities are currently waiting for one.

If you have a laptop you’re no longer using, your donation to DiverseIT can make a life-changing difference. Portable laptops are especially important for people who need accessible technology for school, work, and daily independence — and right now, the need is urgent.

DiverseIT is an Adelante nonprofit program that provides free computers to people with disabilities and local nonprofits, creates employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and offers free or low-cost computer classes to the community.

While laptops are the greatest need, they also appreciate donations of desktops, monitors, keyboards, mice, cables, and computer parts — even if systems need repair. All hard drives are securely wiped to federal standards, devices are refurbished as needed, and then placed directly into the community. You can also donate systems without hard drives. ♻️

📞 Call (505) 881-8324 or 📧 email DiverseIT@GoAdelante.org to arrange a drop-off. For large donations, pickup can be arranged.
📍 Open Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–6 PM at 5400 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
