For over three decades, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) has served our community as the only health care organization in Central New Mexico dedicated exclusively to providing services to homeless people. AHCH provides critical services to over 7,000 men, women and children every year. By addressing the health-related causes of homelessness, AHCH makes it possible for people to find solutions to end their homelessness.

Please join us this afternoon for the annual Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day Vigil and silent march. This national day of remembrance, centered around the winter solstice and the longest night of the year, the lives of people who died while experiencing homelessness, and those who were formerly unhoused but carried that experience with them to the end. It also draws attention to the public health crisis posed by housing instability.

The silent march will begin at the AHCH Memorial Wall, a dedicated space honoring those who have passed away. Participants are invited to join a solemn and silent procession from the AHCH Memorial Wall to Civic Center. We will also be doing a sock drive and have burritos for the first 200 participants.

🎄 Learn about our Mission Partners through the advent tree!

Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless:
ABQ healthcare for the homeless (AHCH) is an invaluable resource in our community. They provided countless services to some of the most vulnerable people in our city including: medical and dental clinics, a volunteer run vision clinic, a pharmacy, mental health services, social services, outreach and a community art studio. Right now they are in desperate need of warm clothing items like hats and gloves. Whether you plan to participate in our advent tree or want to support AHCH directly please consider supporting them in this way.

🎄About the advent tree: Each year we choose a few of our partners to go on our advent tree and do a targeted drive for certain items they need! The tree is up this year from November 30-December 24.

You and I both know that when systems scale back, homelessness rises. While the impact of these policies might not be felt immediately—the consequences of these changes will ripple out for years into the future. At the same time, demand for homeless services will continue to grow. That’s why we’re acting now—not with alarm, but with purpose. Your support today helps ensure that care, connection, and stability remain available when other resources fall away.

Stephen Finkenauer is a lifelong artist who has been creating for more than 60 years. Stephen has been part of ArtStreet since its very first day over 30 years ago, finding creative refuge and purpose through the community.

His work is inspired by the freedom and energy of horses and the vivid colors of the Southwestern landscape. He often paints different versions of the same scene—shifting weather, changing horses, and varied light—capturing the feeling of movement and immersion.
