A recent question in Denver Westword newspaper’s “Ask a Stoner” column wondered whether one can take cannabis into New Mexico from Colorado, given that recreational adult sales won’t begin here until April 1. Short answer from the column: probably, although transporting ma*****na over state lines is a federal crime (another way of answering this question might be: No.) More to the point, the “Stoner” notes that even when our recreational cannabis shops do open, “expect higher prices and fewer choices than you’re accustomed to, because only a short list of dispensaries will be open for recreational sales initially, and excited customers are willing to pay high prices during the honeymoon.” Don’t look to micro cannabis businesses to make up any shortfalls in the market."

"With the April 1 date for legalizing ma*****na coming up quickly, a lot of people are wondering if we’ll be seeing more and more pot smokers in public and what will the enforcement look like.
The Albuquerque Fire and Police Departments would be responsible for enforcing the revised Albuquerque Clean Indoor Air Ordinance. It adds pot smoking on streets and sidewalks at bus stops and in common areas in apartment buildings to the city’s smoking ban. Fines would be the same as they are now for violating a smoking ban — up to $100 for a first violation and $200 max for a second."

The Very First Bill in Committee at the Roundhouse is a Pay Raise for the Governor, a huge pay raise for the Secretary of State and Salaries For All Lawmakers…That is their priority as a starting point for the 30 day legislative session - to give themselves money.

In the 2021 legislative session … lawmakers made four different attempts to pass bills to pay themselves. Before this happens, a responsible legislative body would create an independent legislative improvement task force similar to the one in 2020, House Memorial 32.
A responsible legislative body would have UNM and NMSU political science departments and other state universities conduct political science research into our citizen Legislature to determine if the current structure has been the root cause of all the problems for New Mexico in recent years. No member of the Legislature or Governor’s Office should have any say in the selection of the task force membership.
