Within the gorgeous space that is Yoga Shala, we have two studios! Our “Big” studio that holds non heated and up to 105 degrees heated 🔥 classes and our “Small” studio, non heated and equally 🌶️ 😄

The ability to serve a diverse community, specifically diversity in ages, is unmatched.

Among our members, we not only have a 55+ community, but also, a 65+ community, both living proof, yoga is for all ages and the elixir for mobility.

Within the Small studio, our most accessible offerings are taught, Mindful Yoga which you see here and Yoga 101, along with private sessions, and it is fully outfitted with props to include chairs specifically designed for yoga and qualified experienced teachers to guide. The smaller space allows the teacher to be close enough to offer assistance, a warm communal feel, and something about this room really facilitates conversation and laughter, A LOT of laughter 😆

As we head into fall and winter 🥶 we extend an invitation to connect, with yourself through movement that fosters stability, flexibility, and strength as well as connection to a likeminded community in a room washed in cozy sunlight☀️🤗💕

Kaitlyn first discovered yoga in a heated vinyasa class and quickly fell in love with the practice. What began as a physical challenge became a deeper journey into mindfulness, breath, and self-discovery. She’s passionate about helping students find both strength and stillness, on and off the mat. Her teaching style is uplifting and engaging, encouraging you to show up fully for yourself each time you practice. 🤍

Imagine a space, so incredibly warm, inviting, and safe, that people of different ages, backgrounds, views, can come together, with open minds, kind hearts, and discuss, some of the most uncomfortable topics, admit their triggers, shed all the layers, allow for vulnerability…and without judgement or unsolicited advice, simply be HELD.

This is yoga and this is Yoga Shala 🙌🏽

Last night’s book club meeting was as raw as the book we discussed. No topic off limits, utmost respect for every participant, and our connection rooted in truth.

Stay tuned, our next book selection will be announced next week with date and time for the next meeting.

PS, we will be talking about All the Way to the River for a long long time 😃😅😱

As teachers, facilitators of holding space, a safe space, gently inviting, encouraging curiosity to one’s comfort level, never forcing for that is not the practice, but with permission, we gain implicit trust, the stories unfold, sometimes page by page, most of the time, light hits a facet, and the luminosity in one’s being, begins to radiate. You have never seen anything like it, until you have the privilege of guiding one out of the darkness, from your own deep dark place, it isn’t about showing where the light is, how to turn it on, but simply acknowledging, there indeed is light.

Yoga Shala came together in support of LAWS, Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, where we listened to testimony, uplifted, and gave…all while further validating the work we do and a reminder of who we serve.

Our community’s most vulnerable deserve our commitment to integrity in teaching yoga and healing modalities, being informed and continuing our education, and sharing the practice on and off the mat. May we always look for the helpers, support the helpers, and do what we can to the best of our abilities 🙏🏽💞🤍

She is okay, our beloved Brie is okay 🙌🏽

Her car, not so much, her system, will need attending too, thank God she is okay.

Us teachers, we are just like you, the community we serve. We live life and sometimes life happens, unexpectedly, devastatingly, and the tools we teach, believe me, we use! Every day, all day long.

Not long after getting sandwiched, Brie let me know what happened, I hadn’t seen pictures yet, but I knew it was serious. Gone was her peotic lilt that can even be felt in written word, but rather, blunt and to the point, here is what happened, A, B, C…

She was letting me know, I’ll be needing coverage for my class. Amidst THIS. Her dedication and consideration to not only Yoga Shala, but to me, does not go unnoticed.

What often happens to owners of any business is, when their people don’t show up, they the owner must and often deplete themselves and their business suffers, it isn’t sustainable.

Not me. Not Yoga Shala.

Within texting two teachers and not even two minutes, Brie’s classes got covered. Thank you Krupa, Thank you Suzie 🙏🏽

Our teachers demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, support of one another, even though we don’t all get to even see each other! They practice self care, they take care of one another, and they will always show up for you.

My heart is full, my cup overflows yet again…and my gratitude is unmatched.

So glad my dearest friend Brie is better than okay, for you are beyond precious to us all 🙏🏽🤍💕

It’s an invitation to listen inward and connect in a way you might not have before.
