Did you know? This week’s Artemis II mission is actively using lasers to communicate with Earth — transmitting data at speeds never before achieved in human spaceflight.

NASA’s O2O laser communication system uses infrared light instead of radio to transmit high-speed data back to Earth. It can reach speeds around 260 Mbps, enabling high-quality video and much higher data throughput than Apollo-era comms
