Tilden Memory Care & Assisted Living is a boutique 8-bed residential assisted living and memory care (dementia, Alzheimer's) residence nestled at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Alexandria, Virginia. We offer exceptional care in a comfortable, familiar setting built specifically around the needs and desires of our residents. Being one of the only luxury single-story homes in the DC metro area to offer fully private bedroom suites, we can provide a level of care and safety unmatched by other smaller facilities. Our competent staff, comprised of Certified Nursing Assistants, Registered Medication Aides, and a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse take care of everything; the home is staffed at all times and strictly adheres to a very high caregiver to resident ratio.

A typical breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our Tilden Angels do the cooking in-house using fresh ingredients bought locally. We consult with a reigstered dietician to help with meal planning and special diets when needed. Meals are kept simple and deisgned to be tasty, nutritious, and encourage independance. Bon appetit!

Tilden Angel Kadiatu is doing a great job leading some residents through afternoon exercise. We always try to schedule some movement activities in both the morning and afternoon, as many residents either like to sleep in late or take an afternoon nap. Afternoon physical activity is a great way to help mitigate sundowning behaviors for our residents with dementia.

It's Kung Fu Tuesday!

One of our residents loves martial arts movies, so we decided to make our Tuesday and Friday after-dinner movie a classic martial arts film. We have another resident who was born in Iran, so our Wednesday afternoon exercise is dancing to Persian music. What we have noticed is that we get better engagement from ALL residents when we make the activity program deeply personalized. When they see one of their friends having fun, they are more likely to join in. Unlike larger facilities where activities need to have general appeal to a large audience, as a small home limited to eight we can ensure that at least a couple times a week our residents are enjoying something deeply personal.

Who knew that David Greenwood, CEO of Owl Be There, could sing and play the piano? David was nice enough to entertain our residents after his tour today. Have a great weekend, everyone!

You can tell our residents loved the performance from the talented young ladies at Just Dance in Alexandria. We love it when we can have younger generations mixing with the older ones. Bravo!
