“High Complexity Testing Laboratory Director”
***Note: High Complexity testing- A laboratory director can be:
1. MD, DO with current medical license in state of lab’s location AND certified in anatomic and/or clinical pathology or equivalent qualifications; OR
2. MD, DO or DPM with current medical license in state of lab’s location AND 1 year of laboratory training during medical residency:
3. MD, DO or DPM with current medical license in state of lab’s location AND two years directing or supervising high complexity testing; OR
4. PhD in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science AND certification by the HHS-approved boards (ABB, ABCC, ABFT, ABHI, ABMGG, ABMLI, ABMM, NRCC); OR
5. PhD in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science AND until 12/31/2002 must have served or be serving as director of a laboratory performing high complexity testing AND must have at least 2 years of laboratory training or experience or both AND 2 years of experience directing or supervising high complexity testing.
6. ON OR BEFORE 2/28/92: Serving as a laboratory director and must have previously qualified or could have qualified as a laboratory director under regulations 3/14/90.
