Dear clients and friends,

It is December, can you believe it? I am choosing to think positive and borrow from Kate Bush, very timely since Stranger Things is returning, and say that December will be magic again. This season gives us so many chances to notice small moments of comfort and beauty, and I hope you find plenty of both.

Part of that magic comes from this month’s featured essential oil blend, Yule Log. It is called the scent of togetherness, and that feels exactly right for this time of year. Yule Log is a warm, woodsy blend that creates an inviting atmosphere and supports a sense of calm. It includes cedarwood, siam wood, coconut extract, sandalwood, nootka, cistus, labdanum, benzoin, and celery seed.

Head over to my blog for a closer look at some of the most impactful elements of the blend: https://www.mandaminemassage.com/s/stories/aromatherapy-massage-series-december-and-yule-log

Dear clients and friends,

As we celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, I want to send my heartfelt wishes for a happy, healthy, joyful holiday. Also, please be safe out there if you are one of the brave souls who greet the sunrise on Black Friday. I admire your commitment.

The holidays are an important time to support small businesses. I am grateful for your continued support of Mandamine Massage of Old Town Alexandria.

This is also the perfect moment to think about the friends and family members who desperately need massage therapy. Now is the time to be creative and thoughtful, and give them a gift that brings real comfort. When I say massage is “the gift that keeps on giving,” it is absolutely true. Many of you who read my blog know how many ways massage can improve our lives. In a world already filled with stress and challenges, that matters.

Mandamine Massage is offering gift certificates for December. You can choose either three sixty minute massages or two ninety minute massages for three hundred dollars. It is a meaningful way to say, “your well being matters,” or “here is a chance to relax,” or anything else you want to give from the heart. And of course, this includes you. You are welcome to give yourself the same care, because you are worth it.

Contact Mandamine Massage to take advantage of this offer. Every year I receive a wave of gift certificate orders, and I love seeing how much kindness you show to the people in your life. Email me at mandaminemassage@gmail.com

I look forward to connecting with you. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a bright start to the holiday season.

Stay merry and bright,
Amanda

Dear clients and friends,

As we get closer to Thanksgiving, many of us are planning menus, sorting out travel, and thinking about who we will be sharing the holiday with. It is a day spent with people we care about, whether that is family or our chosen community. With that comes the familiar experience of trying a dish we feel obligated to eat, even when we know it might not sit well. Maybe that is not true for you, but here at Mandamine Massage Therapy of Old Town Alexandria, I hear plenty of stories.

Whether it is oyster stuffing, an experimental casserole, or simply the result of loving every dish a little too much, holiday meals can sometimes lead to indigestion and general tummy trouble. This is one of the many moments when massage therapy can help.

Dear clients and friends,

Now that the wind is blustering and the temperatures are dropping, Old Town Alexandria is beginning to look a lot like the holidays. I wanted to share a roundup of November events that bring some early seasonal magic to our neighborhood. I will send a follow-up in December since the calendar fills quickly this time of year!

Southern Living recently named Alexandria the perfect town for a Hallmark Christmas movie. Whether or not you are a Hallmark fan, it is hard to disagree. Condé Nast Traveler also included Alexandria in its list of cities that go all out for Christmas. Lights and decorations are already appearing up and down King Street, and November is when the festivities begin.

Dear Clients and Friends,

Here we are in November, and let’s all applaud that we’ve made it almost all the way through this year.

With November’s arrival, I’m bringing a new scent into the practice, one that feels like the essence of the season itself. It’s warm, grounding, and full of comfort, the kind of fragrance that makes you pause and take a deep breath before winter settles in.

It’s called Harvest Spice, and it’s everything you want in an autumn scent. Harvest Spice evokes childhood memories, cozy times with friends and family, and the simple joy of fall activities.

Dear friends and clients,

It’s getting cold out there, and November is here. That means it’s time to start winterizing our homes in whatever ways are needed. For those with houses, that can include turning off outdoor water supplies, draining faucets and hoses, sealing drafts, adding insulation, and cleaning gutters. All of that sounds routine enough, but you’d be surprised how many clients I see who strain a muscle or hurt their back while getting ready for colder weather.

When that happens, there are several massage techniques I use to help relieve pain and speed healing. Head over to my blog to learn more! https://www.mandaminemassage.com/s/stories/winterizing-and-massage-therapy

Dear Clients and Friends,

As you know, I love exploring new research on the efficacy and power of massage therapy. I keep an eye on what’s emerging all the time because it’s fascinating to see how this work continues to grow and gain recognition.

Lately, I’ve been struck by how often massage therapy is proving to be an effective companion to many chronic and serious illnesses. With illness often comes stress, anxiety, and even depression. It can be difficult to stay positive while living with chronic pain, but study after study shows that massage therapy makes a real and measurable difference.

That makes sense. As I’ve written before, massage therapy has a powerful impact on anxiety and mood disorders, fatigue, and overall stress management. The 2025 research continues to affirm these benefits, showing consistent positive results across nearly every area of pain and illness care, and these findings are appearing in medical journals around the world.

I'm excited to share these findings with you, head over to my blog to read more!

Dear friends and clients,

Last week I shared a little about Mabon, the autumn solstice—a turning point that reminds us to prepare for the colder, darker months ahead. This season calls for both practical and personal winterizing.

On the practical side, we move summer furniture, clean gardens, and protect outdoor spaces like pools and water features. All of that work is important, but it often comes with a cost: sore lower backs, tight shoulders, and even allergy or breathing flare-ups.

On the personal side, this is also a time to fortify your body for the challenges of colder weather. Just as you prepare your plants and spaces, your body deserves the same thoughtful care.

That’s where Mandamine Massage Therapy comes in. Visit my blog to read more: https://www.mandaminemassage.com/s/stories/massage-therapy-and-fall-chores

Dear friends and clients,

As I shared in my last blog, we at Mandamine Massage of Old Town Alexandria are soaking up this beautiful “Indian summer”—the golden light on King Street, leaves just beginning to turn, crisp air in the mornings.

September is full of magic.

With the month now in full swing, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the Autumn Equinox, known by many as Mabon.

This year, Mabon falls on September 22nd in the northern hemisphere. It’s a season of balance and gratitude, a turning point as the daylight and night share equal hours. The world around us shifts—it’s an invitation to find harmony within ourselves, too. To honor both light and shadow, abundance and letting go.

Even when life brings challenges or change, gratitude has a remarkable way of reminding us that love, beauty, and blessings are always near, if we pause to notice. If you’d like ideas for celebrating Mabon—ways to pause, reflect, and welcome this season—you can read a blog I love that offers simple rituals and inspirations.

As the seasons shift, so does our need for self-care. Massage can support this transition: helping ease seasonal affective stress, bolstering immunity as the weather cools, and grounding us as days grow shorter.

Have you thought about your massage wellness plan for the coming fall and winter? Whether it’s a single session or a series, I’d be honored to help you create a schedule that supports your health, balance, and peace.

Wishing you a blessed Mabon and a joyful, grounded autumn,

Amanda
