When it comes to facial plastic surgery, credentials matter. A lot. A recent piece by Jolene Edgar highlights a growing concern in aesthetics: physicians without formal training in plastic surgery or facial plastic surgery marketing themselves as “cosmetic surgeons.” With social media normalizing procedures, it’s never been easier to find a provider, but not all “experts” are equally trained.

As facial plastic surgeon and AAFPRS member Justin C. Cohen, MD, FACS, shares, “It can be really overwhelming, especially with so much misinformation out there.” Do your research, verify credentials, and choose a surgeon whose training, ethics, and experience are transparent.
