The Physician & Midwife Collaborative Practice was born out of the notion that as medicine and technology advances, “care” should still be the foundation of providing medical care to women. We focus on providing compassion, education and support in tandem with the best medical course of action for the individual. By bringing together board-certified OB/GYNs and midwives, we are able to provide our patients with high-touch care in combination with the latest medical technology. This may translate to planning for a natural childbirth with a first-time mother or creating a comprehensive treatment plan, including exercise for a woman who is struggling with menopause. We also do our best to keep this level of care accessible, by offering multiple providers, four office locations, extensive office hours, and 24/7 on-site staff at Inova Alexandria Hospital. In order to respond efficiently and accurately to your needs, we also maintain electronic medical records and offer centralized support staff who can access your lab results and quickly set appointments. To learn more about the unique Physicians & Midwives approach, please read more about our services on our website:
Nitronox offers fast-acting relief during certain in-office procedures — helping reduce anxiety and discomfort while you stay awake and in control.
Commonly used for IUD insertions or removals, pelvic exams, Pap tests, and biopsies, it’s a safe blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen that works as you breathe.
Talk with your provider to see if Nitronox is a good fit for your visit.

Many women aren’t sure when perimenopause starts, or how it’s different from menopause.
Parini Shah, WHNP, walks through what changes to expect, how menopause is officially defined, and why support during this transition matters.
We're thrilled to see our amazing team at Physicians & Midwives' North Arlington location recognized in ARLnow's roundup of The Best OBGYN in Arlington, VA!
The ARLnow Reader's Choice award honors top vote-getting practices for their expert care and patient-centered service, and being included speaks to the commitment our providers bring to women's healthcare every day.
Whether it's routine care, pregnancy support, or specialty services, we're proud to serve you.
Not sure which birth control is right for you? You’re not alone.
Choosing a method isn’t one-size-fits-all - it depends on your medical history, lifestyle, and personal goals. In this video, Parini Shah, WHNP, explains how to start the conversation and find the option that works best for you.
Menopause affects more than hormones - it can also impact your heart.❤️
As estrogen levels decrease, changes in cholesterol, blood pressure, and metabolism can raise cardiovascular risk. Many women aren’t aware of this connection, which is why it’s so important to talk about heart health as part of menopause care.
Our providers take a whole-person approach to menopause, looking beyond symptoms to support long-term health.
Did you know that some infections can be passed from mother to baby during pregnancy or childbirth? In some cases, they can lead to premature birth, birth defects, or long-term health challenges.
The good news is that many of these infections are preventable.
Simple steps like:
- Regular prenatal care
- Recommended vaccinations
- Routine screenings
- Good hand and food hygiene
can all make a big difference in protecting both you and your baby.
Talk to your provider about prenatal screenings and vaccines, and make sure you're getting the care you need throughout your pregnancy.
