MB Therapy, Inc. is a therapist-owned company dedicated to providing individualized therapy services. is so excited to be here in Central Louisiana.

We are so thankful that God has blessed us with a location here in Alexandria, and are looking forward to continuing to serve Central Louisiana and the surrounding areas. We provide Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapy services, as well as equine-assisted therapy and adaptive music lessons. Our skilled therapists are trained in areas including: ADHD, Autism, Assistive Technology, Behavioral Modification, Brachial Plexus Injuries, CP, DS, PDD, Developmental Delays, Handwriting, Apraxia, Oral Motor Skills, Prematurity, Sensory Integration, Social Skills, Toe-Walking, Torticollis, Myofascial Release, Swallowing, Feeding, Reading/Literacy, Auditory Processing, Toileting, Visual-Motor Integration, and Phonological Awareness. We accept most major insurances, as well as all Louisiana Medicaid Bayou Health plans. We also offer affordable private-pay options when needed. 🚨 URGENT UPDATE FOR UNITEDHEALTHCARE COMMUNITY PLAN MEDICAID PATIENTS 🚨

Dear Parents & Caregivers,
We know the recent announcement regarding changes to Louisiana's Medicaid program may be alarming.

MB Therapy is fully aware of this update removing United Healthcare Community Plan as a Medicaid plan for 2026, and we will continue to monitor for any further changes. We are happy to confirm that we are in-network with all of Louisiana's Managed Care Organization (MCO) Medicaid plans and will do our best to minimize gaps in therapy services. However, please bear with us as this change affects over 1,000 active patients at MB Therapy, Inc. and will require significant administrative work to ensure that children are able to continue services.
In summary, Louisiana Department of Health will end its contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) on December 31, 2025. It was previously approved in October of this year, but has been abruptly terminated. If your child is covered by UnitedHealthcare Medicaid, their coverage will CHANGE on January 1, 2026.

❓ WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR MY CHILD’S THERAPY?
• Your child should be automatically moved to a different Louisiana Medicaid plan.
• Once your child is moved to a new plan, you should receive a letter telling you which plan your child has been assigned to. ✉️
• You will have 90 days to change to a different plan if the plan you are assigned to does not meet your child’s needs. 🕒
• MB Therapy, Inc. currently accepts all Louisiana Medicaid plans, BUT not all Medicaid plans are equal. Many plans are known for frequent denial of therapy services ❌ and/or slower authorization approval. Your child will remain a patient of MB Therapy, Inc., but please be patient with us as there may be a delay with receipt of services.

👉 NEXT STEPS FOR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS:
• Update your contact information with Louisiana Medicaid by calling 1-888-342-6207 📞 or accessing the Healthy Louisiana app.
• Watch for LA Medicaid to contact you by mail, email, or text about changes to your child’s healthcare. 👀
• Contact our office immediately upon receiving your child’s new plan information. ⚠️ FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN YOUR CHILD’S REMOVAL FROM THE TREATMENT SCHEDULE. We are unable to obtain new authorizations for continuation of treatment without this information.
• If the plan you are assigned to does not provide you the care you need, contact Medicaid to change plans within the 90-day window.

✏️ How Does Occupational Therapy Make Handwriting Easier for Kids? ✏️

When someone is learning to drive, you don’t start them on a five-lane freeway. It’s overwhelming, visually busy, and their skills just aren’t ready for it. The same idea applies when teaching a young child to write.

When new writers are given worksheets packed with top, middle, and bottom lines, highlighting, dotted lines, and tracing, it can quickly become overstimulating. Instead of learning where letters start and stop, many children begin “drawing” letters or forming them incorrectly because the page is simply too busy.

That’s why our OT team follows the saying “Less is best.” We focus first on the foundational pre-writing strokes that build every letter. Once those are mastered, we introduce letters in a developmentally appropriate order—starting with simple horizontal and vertical strokes and gradually progressing to more complex shapes. Boundary lines are added slowly to support success, and consistent terminology helps children understand where letters begin and end.

While tracing can help children with motor or visual processing challenges, we typically avoid dotted tracing. It requires a higher-level visual skill called visual closure, which develops later. For young writers, dotted lines can be confusing rather than helpful.

Instead, we use solid-line tracing, single-line formats, and highlighted strokes to reduce visual clutter and support clearer letter formation. For one of our young writers with coordination and visual perceptual challenges, this simple shift made a big difference in his independence and success.
