‼️ACTION NEEDED: Protect the hepatitis B birth dose!

Last week, the ACIP voted to end the universal hepatitis B birth dose and delay vaccination for many newborns until two months of age. This goes against decades of scientific evidence and leaves infants vulnerable to chronic hepatitis B infection and liver cancer.

There is still time to stop this.

Congress must urge HHS and CDC to reject this harmful change and keep the universal birth dose in the immunization schedule.

Take action now! Contact your representatives and tell them to protect newborns: https://www.aasld.org/aasld-policy-action-center #/

‼️AASLD and six leading medical societies are sounding the alarm after ACIP voted to end the universal hepatitis B birth dose recommendation.

The hepatitis B vaccine given at birth protects infants from lifelong liver disease and liver cancer. Ending this recommendation puts newborns at risk, widens existing screening gaps, and threatens decades of public health progress.

We’re urging the CDC to reverse this decision and reaffirm the universal birth dose as a critical tool to keep every infant safe.
