🕯️💙 On February 23, 2026, All Saints Church in Pasadena held its 15th Annual Interfaith Memorial Service to honor unhoused community members who had passed away.
Led by Rev. Mark Chase and Thomas Diaz, the service brought together faith representatives from Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism. As each name was read, candles were lit in tribute, creating a moving moment of unity and remembrance.
Nearly 100 community members and individuals experiencing homelessness attended. Partner organizations, including the City of Pasadena Housing Department, The Shower of Hope, Union Station Homeless Services, and Tzu Chi, shared messages calling for continued compassion and care.
In his remarks, Dr. Stephen Denq, CEO of Tzu Chi USA Medical Foundation: “Tzu Chi began with charity. In serving those in poverty, we recognized that illness often leads to financial hardship. Charity and medicine are inseparable. As we carry out both charitable and medical missions, we work closely with community partners to expand our collective strength and provide better care for all.”
The evening also featured a contemporary dance tribute by Robyn Williams of Union Station and a heartfelt sign language performance of “Love Heals the World” by Tzu Chi USA Headquarters’ sign language team. The gathering concluded with a shared community dinner.
Earlier that day, Tzu Chi’s Mobile Dental Clinic provided care during the church’s weekly outreach program, serving with healing by day and remembrance by night. Tzu Chi officially joined the church’s outreach efforts on January 12, 2026. 🌿✨
