Have you heard of Primitive Reflexes? These instinctual responses are natural for infants up to 6 months old. They help babies survive and thrive as they are developing their voluntary motor function. However, if these responses continue past 6 months to a year of age, it can be a sign of a developmental issue. Our OT team shared more about how these responses work and how they can help kids integrate these responses into voluntary motor skills on this week's blog. Therapeutic Listening is a sound-based intervention program that can be used with individuals of all ages who have a variety of sensory processing difficulties. 🎧️⁠

We are so proud of our patient Gracie and the hard work that she put in during her most recent 3-week intensive strength program! 👏🎉During the course of the program, she built up her lower body and core strength to continue developing her ability to move independently. 💪Check her out here riding in style on one of our adaptive bikes! 🚲️Way to go Gracie!!🤗🧡

We were so lucky to have Ken from SPIO Dynamic Compression Orthoses take the time to educate our therapists with a demo of their flexible bracing products yesterday! 😄💞Miss Meghan was able to organize this presentation for our entire OT, PT and Speech Therapy teams, where they learned all about the compression equipment from SPIO, how it can help our patients, and how to properly fit the equipment. 📏
These tools can help support kids with hypotonia while they work on developing trunk strength, as well as providing deep pressure to kids with sensory processing difficulties. 💪🦺 We are so appreciative to Ken for taking the time to demo these tools and can't wait to incorporate them into treatment in the future! 👏

Meet Miss Jasmine! 🤩 We are so excited to be welcoming another new SLP to our growing team here at Reach for Speech! 🎉Jasmine received her master's in Speech-Language Pathology from Clarion University. 🎓️ She has previously worked in a variety of settings including acute care, pediatric outpatient, and home health. 💞 Her clinical interests include AAC and voice. A fun fact about Jasmine is that she has two corgis at home that she loves very much! 🐾⁠

Congratulations to our most recent Intensive Strength Program Graduate, Ryker! He mad huge strides towards his goals during the course of this 3 week program. His and his families dedication to daily sessions with our PT and OT teams have led to increased strength and independence that he will benefit from in his Activities of Daily Living. We are so proud of Ryker!
