Reach for Speech is so excited to Welcome Miss Madeline, MOT/L to our Occupational Therapy Team! 🧡💙⁠
Miss Madeline received her undergraduate degree in Biology/Health at Grove City College before going on to complete her Master's in Occupational Therapy at Radford University. She has clinical experience working with both children and adults but is most interested in sensory processing and social-emotional development. She is excited to be joining the R4S team where she can collaborate with other therapists to best serve children in the Pittsburgh area. In her free time, Miss Madeline loves to take her dog on runs/hikes, explore local coffee shops, and spend time with friends and family.😄

Our first Tummy Time Group meeting was full of giggles and wiggly little ones! 🥰🚼️ We had babies aging from 7 weeks to 4.5 months and their caretakers join us at our Center Township office for an hour of tummy time fun! We were able to address parent's developmental concerns as well as offer guidance on how to incorporate tummy time into daily routines. 🧡 We can't wait to see these cuties again at the next session on April 1. Our very own Miss Natalie has some exciting news that we want to share with our Reach for Speech Families! ‼Natalie Silverman, current member of our OT team, is taking on a new endeavor with her family to open an inclusive sensory gym - We Rock the Spectrum! 🤩🥰⁠

The new gym and inclusive play space will be located in Sharpsburg, right off of Route 28, just a few minutes from the Pittsburgh Zoo! The Silverman family plans to open an additional location in the South/West Airport region within the next 1.5-2 years as well!🎉⁠
The North location is set to open by early summer, and we encourage you to follow the progress and all announcements on their Instagram and pages! ⁠

We know this gym will benefit so many kids in the Pittsburgh area, including many of our Reach for Speech clients! We could not be more excited for Miss Natalie and proud of her for bringing this amazing concept to our area! 🧡💙⁠

We are so excited to introduce our new Tummy Time Group at the Center Township office of Reach for Speech! 🚼️⁠
We'll cover a variety of topics including motor expectations by age, creative ways to implement tummy time in everyday life, managing low tolerance or fussiness, head shape, and more! We also hope to create opportunity for connection among parents of infants. 🥰⁠
This group is free will take place on the first Wednesday of each month, from 10-11 am for babies ages 0-7 months and their caregivers. There are a lot of misconceptions about what an AAC Device is and who can benefit from them! 🤔 These powerful tools are meant to help people of all ages develop a system of communication that provides them with autonomy and connection.📱 These devices are not toys. They are not something that prevents kids from developing their speech, in fact it's quite the opposite! AAC devices are a tool for language development and can help children improve their communication skills and express their needs!🗣️

Congratulations to Jacob, the most recent graduate of our Intensive Strength Program! Jacob worked so hard over the last 3 weeks to build strength and make progress towards his goals. During the program, he improved his core strength and balance to increase independence in upper body and lower body dressing, and so much more! We could not be prouder of everything he accomplished and can't wait to see him make even more strides in the future. Well done, Jacob!
