Today is National School Backpack Awareness Day, a reminder that carrying too much weight can take a toll. Studies show that nearly one in five children carry backpacks that are heavier than recommended.

NovaCare Rehabilitation Physical Therapist Rod Rubi from our Marmora center shares the right and wrong ways to wear a backpack to help prevent strain and injury. Remember: pack it light, wear it right.

You feel it in the simplest daily tasks: bending to pick something off the floor, standing while cooking dinner, exercising. It’s the dreaded “low back pain,” that uncomfortable, sometimes debilitating, feeling in the lumbar part of the spine, the area from the lower ribcage to the buttocks.

Gabi and Gina will be leaving the NovaCare nest in August (hopefully to return in a few years😉) as they head off to OT and PT grad school.

We are looking to fill Rehab Aide positions to cover the Robinson and Moon clinics. (Option available to cover additional clinics, if interested)

We will make work just a little bit fun 😆
