Let’s be honest — most of us try to feel better by managing or outsmarting every thought and emotion.

ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) teaches how to stay open, aware, and aligned — even when life feels heavy.

If you’ve ever caught yourself scrolling and thought, “Wait… what am I even looking for?” — same.
We are bombarded with content and need to be discerning about what we are allowing into our consciousness. Because we are apparently living in the upside-down world, here are a few apps that I've found that help with information and tech overload

🧘🏾‍♀️ Endel for calm - creates personalized soundscapes—somehow knowing when I need focus, rest, or calm. It’s like a sonic weighted blanket for my brain.
🚫 Opal for boundaries - locks distracting apps so my brain can focus on what matters. I have mine set to lock for one hour after 15 minutes on social media
🧠 Elevate for focus - brain games help me stay sharp without feeling like work
📚 Audible for reflection/distraction - For when my eyes say “no more screens,” but my brain still wants to learn something
🎵 Spotify for emotional regulation - my unofficial life coach and mood equalizer. The genre roulette never misses (imho)

❤️‍🔥 My first pick for this series is A Search for Love and Power: Women, S*x, and Addiction by Dr. Charlotte Davis Kasl, Ph.D. This is the book that gave me my first a-ha moment in school. Learning the parallels between our relationship with food and experiences with s*x and intimacy, gave my eating disorder work a new perspective. The book is hard to find these days, but if you across it in Half-Price Books, I highly recommend!
