Last evening, the 54th Paramedic Program graduated 29 students. To date, 20 out of 29 of the students are now certified paramedics. The dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence has prepared each of them to serve their communities. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Andre Harris, recipient of the Preceptor of the Year Award for outstanding mentorship and support of our students in the field and to Amanda Yanisch, recipient of the Adjunct Faculty Award for exceptional dedication to the education of our students. Lastly, thank you to all of our EMS precepting agencies, adjunct faculty and clinical preceptors for your support in the education of the paramedics of yesterday, today and the future!

The 54th Paramedic Program Graduation of the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute will be taking place on Monday evening, December 15, 2025 at 7:00pm. We invite all of you to join us on line to celebrate the success and accomplishments of our newest graduates. Additional details will follow very shortly as to how to view the graduation ceremony.

EMS Instructor Methodology Course

Location: 2100 Mack Blvd., Allentown, PA 18103

Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current CPR or CPR instructor certification
- Current certification as EMT or higher-level EMS provider
- Minimum one year of active EMS provider experience

2026 Dates:
- Friday, January 23rd: 6pm - 10pm
- Saturday, January 24th: 8am - 5pm
- Sunday, January 25th: 8am - 5pm
- Monday, January 26th: 6pm - 10pm (virtual)
- Tuesday, January 27th & Wednesday, January 28th, independent

This course has been approved by the PA DOH as meeting the educational course requirement that an applicant for certification as an EMS Instructor needs to satisfy to be certified as PA State EMS Instructor.

This past weekend, EMT students learned the basics of START triage for mass-casualty incidents. They practiced rapidly assessing patients, assigning priority tags based on respiration, perfusion and mental status (RPM) while making quick decisions to manage multiple victims efficiently and safely.

Tonight our colleagues from Thomas Jefferson University held an Open House at EMI to discuss continued educational tracks for paramedics who have an interest in pursuing careers in either Respiratory Therapy or Emergency Management. For paramedics who completed their paramedic training at either EMI or the Jeff Stat Training Center within the last 10 years,
you can be awarded 30 college credits towards your degree. For paramedics who completed their education at another training center, you can earn 20 or more credits. For additional information, please reach out to Marianne.kostenbader@jefferson.edu
