Luke's Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency is an American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) accredited post graduate program. The dual cohort (January and July) year long program is designed to enhance orthopaedic physical therapy clinical practice through academic coursework, one on one mentoring time, and interprofessional collaboration. We strive to create leaders in the field and deliver the highest quality, patient-centered care to help patients live more productive lives and be the provider of choice in the communities we serve.

Last week, our Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residents discussed the Treatment Based Classification system, motor control exercises, and lumbar grade 5 mobilizations. The literature shows when patients are appropriately placed within a treatment classification (i.e. specific exercise, manipulation, stabilization), patient outcomes improve tremendously!

Residents in our Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency have the opportunity to complete 75 hours in the Early Intervention setting during their year at St. Luke’s. Hours are completed in the home, community, and daycares while working with clients under 3 years of age. Our Residents also attend a didactic course sponsored by the APTA Pediatric Residency and Fellowship SIG, where they learn more about the Early Intervention system and how it differs from pediatric physical therapy in an outpatient setting.
