A quick, honest look at Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

I see a lot of conversations about perimenopause and menopause where the first (and sometimes only) solution offered is hormone replacement therapy. So here’s a simple, balanced perspective.

What HRT is
HRT is a medical treatment that adds estrogen (and sometimes progesterone) back into the body to help reduce symptoms caused by hormone decline. It’s commonly prescribed for hot flashes, night sweats, sleep issues, and other menopausal symptoms.

Why it helps some people
• Often very effective for hot flashes and night sweats
• Can improve sleep and quality of life
• Well-studied and commonly prescribed
• Can be very helpful when started at the right time and monitored properly

Things to consider
• It adds hormones to the body rather than restoring the body’s own signaling
• It’s not a fit for everyone
• It doesn’t address stress, nervous system overload, or physical tension that often worsen symptoms
• Many women still feel “off” even when labs look better

Here’s where I want to be clear about my role.

My lane is not replacing medical care.
My work focuses on "general wellness support"—especially nervous system regulation, stress load, and daily habits that affect how the body responds to change.

Some women use HRT and still need this kind of support.
Some want to explore non-hormonal options first.
Some do both.

There’s no right or wrong answer—just informed choices.

If you’re someone who:
• Wants support beyond prescriptions
• Feels like stress or tension is driving your symptoms
• Is open to adding supportive habits alongside medical care

That’s the space I work in.
