🔎Did you know that there are different diseases that can effect your vision?⁉️
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system where the immune system attacks the protective myelin sheath around nerves, causing communication issues between the brain and body. Let's focus on the vision symptoms!
Primary MS Vision Symptoms👁️👁️
💠Optic Neuritis: Inflammation of the optic nerve often causes pain when moving the eye, blurred or dim vision (sometimes a dark spot in the center), and reduced color vision (especially red looking gray).
💠Diplopia (Double Vision): Caused by weak eye muscles or nerve damage, this leads to seeing two images instead of one.
💠Nystagmus(nuh-stag-muhs): Involuntary, rapid, or jerky movements of the eyes, which can cause a "bouncing" or "shaky" vision, known as oscillopsia.
💠Vision Loss: Temporary, partial, or sometimes total blindness in one eye, usually appearing suddenly and peaking over days.
📝Other Potential Vision Issues
Reduced Contrast Sensitivity: Difficulty distinguishing objects from their background.
Uhthoff's Phenomenon: A temporary worsening of vision when body temperature rises (e.g., exercise, hot shower, fever).
Dry Eyes: Inflammation can affect nerve function in the eye, causing increased dryness.
