Raising Arrows is dedicated to raising healthy, happy, productive Nubians who excel in the show ring My Nubians may be a bit spoiled and very happy.

Raising Arrows Nubians is dedicated to raising happy, healthy and productive milkers with proven and successful extended lactation. I have great herdsmanship practices in place and test yearly for various disease, always receiving negative test results. In addition, the girls are fed dairy quality alfalfa and are on a minimal grain ration Their living quarters are kept very clean. Need goat or cow milk? Contact me and check for availability.

Edit: day 4 we were able to catch up on ranch and dairy chores. We are pretty safe at this point. We are so thankful, and our hearts go out to all of our neighbors and fellow ranchers severely affected.

Edit: day 3 was spent watching the fire border along our south and east property line. The wind was and is awful. The fire is still raging, but seems to be ok here on this end right now. We hear the front of this is still going strong and still zero percent contained. Over 500,000 acres and counting. Added a few pictures. The sand sure is blowing now.

Edit: We’re still hanging in there. Flare ups were a problem today and kept everyone running. The wind is estimated to blow the next couple days. Right now, it’s calm.

Edit: flaring back up on our end. So far it’s estimated 380,000 acres burned and zero percent contained

Our place and our animals are all ok! We were on the north side of this huge and devastating fire, our neighbors really took a hit though. With wind expected today again, there will be more to fight.

As you can see, it’s been a very RECORD BREAKING, buck heavy year for us.

We have several extremely nice bucklings that are absolutely deserving and worthy of contributing to new herds. These boys come from some of our strongest doe lines and represent the kind of genetics we’ve worked hard to build.

That said, between the buck heavy kid crop and just a generally rough year, we’ve made some adjustments for 2026 and have reduced buckling prices for this season. They need to get off my milk bill and into working and show herds where they can go do what they were bred to do.

Raising Arrows Sweet Alyssum freshened beautifully, delivering three healthy…bucklings (continuing in her dams footsteps in more ways than one 😆). Alys received her dry leg and also went on to win Best Junior in Show last year.

Alys is a daughter of GCH Vita-Vierre Serena 4*M, our beloved Peg, and SGCH ++*B My-Enchanted-Acres LM Candyman.

Losing Peg unexpectedly this season was incredibly hard. Watching Alys freshen so easily and step into the milk string with such a nice mammary helped soften that loss a little. It’s comforting to see her dam’s influence continuing forward, and we’re excited to see her step into the ring this season as a first freshening milking doe.

Below is a photo of Alys taken this morning in her working clothes. No show fill, no fancy udder clip… just her normal everyday look, being handled by my daughter.

We welcomed her bucklings sire, Wingwood Farm Talent Avgust, to our herd last season. From the moment we saw his dam, Anastasia, on the 2024 ADGA National Show live feed, we knew she was something special. She placed 2nd in her class, standing right behind her herdmate and 2024 National Nubian Champion. We quickly fell in love with Anastasia’s style, strength, and presence. Talent’s pedigree is exceptional. His sires dam, Wingwood Farm KR Taipei, has proven herself again and again as the dam of three ELITE bucks, each making an impact in separate herds.

From Alys’ triplets, one buckling is reserved heading to a very special herd, one is retained, and one is AVAILABLE.

All the babies are officially lambar trained. Even the preemies who spend the day out in the big kid pen although they still come inside at night for their VIP sleepover accommodations to ease my mind.

Chores are so much easier without bottles, the mommas are milking their ears off, and every single one of our first fresheners freshened with an outstanding mammary (we can’t wait to share pictures!)

We are soaking up this season of “good.” After the ups and downs, it feels especially sweet

They may have been forced to arrive ahead of schedule, but that hasn’t slowed them down. Each day they’re a little stronger, a little steadier, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

It’s been a very long several days. Still true to this years theme as the toughest season we’ve had:

We battled ketosis with Daenerys. We had to give her spiked IV fluids on a few different occasions (we learned how to place an IV catheter ourselves). We treated aggressively and very hands on with regular CMPK and Vit B injections, oral and IV dextrose, offering anything and everything we could get her to nibble on or sip (watered down milk and orange gatorade she tolerated amall amounts of, along with dried leaves and grass hay that she barely touched) , and we got her as far as we safely could. We made the call to induce her, and we assisted delivery of tangled 2B/1D triplets last night at 8:30. One buck did not make it.

The kids were born on day 141. They made it thru the night and are honestly doing much better better then I anticipated. Despite the doe having the toughest start (she aspirated a ton of fluids and we had to work hard to suck fluids from her airway and get her to breathe steadily), she’s doing great! She was given a bit of early antibiotic therapy to help dry out her lungs, and a dexamethasone steroid boost. They both even have a strong suck reflex and did not need to be tubed. While we have a road ahead of us before we’re out of the woods, I’m feeling a bit more confident after this first 12 hours. Keeping them under a heat lamp and on a heat pad in the house, with every two hour feeds for the forseable future.

Daenerys is feeling MUCH better this morning and is recovering well. Eating and drinking like normal.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Ashley Clement-Clark for her knowledge and support once the early kids hit the ground. Even during her busy kidding season, taking the time to walk another breeder through a tough time with kindness and patience… was everything. Yesterday morning, in the quiet very early hours, we said goodbye to GCH Vita-Vierre Serena 4*M, our Peg.

Four days before she was due to kid, something catastrophic happened. We rushed her to the clinic in a desperate attempt to save her and her babies. Despite veterinary intervention and doing everything within our power, Peg slipped away, and her two beautiful doe kids could not be saved either despite a terminal c-section. It is a loss that feels impossible to put into words, and one we are still very much trying to come to terms with.

Peg was not just another doe in the herd. She was my heart goat. Our herd queen. The steady presence in the barn. The one who carried herself with quiet authority and undeniable grace.

Her accomplishments were many, but to highlight some:
• 2025 ADGA National Show 6th Place Aged Doe
• Dam of the 2025 ADGA Spotlight Sale Doe
• Scored 92EEEE at 2025 appraial
• 12x Best of Breed
• 13x Best Udder of Breed
• 2x Best Udder in Show

But titles never defined her here at home.

For nearly 11 years, she gave Raising Arrows everything. She gave us beautiful daughters and many strong sons scattered throughout the US to carry her legacy forward, daily reminders of the foundation she built.

This season has been one of the hardest our herd has ever faced, and we are just beginning kidding season. The kind of losses that feel senseless and unpreventable. As livestock producers, we all know seasons like this will come eventually, but knowing that doesn’t make it easier when you are standing in the thick of it.

They are not “just goats.”
They are with us day in and day out. They shape our routines. They imprint on our hearts. And when they leave, they take a piece of us with them.

I choose to remember Peg as she was: regal, powerful, and strong. A doe who commanded the show ring and ruled the barn with presence alone. A cornerstone of Raising Arrows.

The barn feels quieter today.
And we feel her absence deeply.

I will forever be grateful for the years we were given, and her legacy that remains.

Kidding season is officially underway with this little guy arriving shortly before midnight, but not quite how we hoped it would start. 💔

We lost two of the three in this first litter. Admittedly, we rarely lose kids, we haven’t lost one in three years! So losing two in one litter was especially heartbreaking and felt like such a waste.

The silver lining: this strong, healthy buckling and a healthy first-freshening mama. She’s absolutely loaded with milk and has a beautiful mammary that we are so excited about. I can’t wait to share photos once she’s cleaned up a bit.

Goats are so full of highs and lows, and this season wasted no time reminding us of that. We grieve the loss, celebrate and love on this adorable, wrinkly little buck, find comfort in the dairy goat community, and keep going 🙏🏼

This morning was spent prepping for the start of this very anticipated season.

The barn was stripped, kidding pens set up, new sheets for everyone, extra shavings stacked, a pallet of grain ordered and on the way…

Kidding starts in just 9 days.

The does are EATING lots and GROWING babies.

Our first group of does is due January 31st, February will be a full whirlwind of kidding, and March will bring our final doe to kid of the 2026 season.

These kids will come from proven, powerhouse Nubian genetics-including National Show placings, strong milk test data, permanent champions, and high linear appraisal scores behind them. The quality and consistency of these animals has been well demonstrated.

We have a number of kids available for reservation. This year we strategically chose to use junior bucklings, and our 2026 pricing reflects that decision - not the strength of the genetics. This offers an excellent opportunity to access high quality Nubians at a more approachable price point.

✨ First Freshener Announcement ✨

Raising Arrows Sweet Alyssum (Alys) is due to freshen February 19. She’s a daughter of the renowned CANDYMAN and has been a joy to watch mature. We’re incredibly excited to see her step into production.

Alys is a stylish, well-balanced yearling doe who excels in overall general appearance. She has a strong, very level topline with a correct set to the legs and smooth blending throughout. She shows excellent length of body, openness of rib, and dairyness for her age, all while maintaining strength and substance. Her neck is long and cleanly attached into a smoothly laid-in shoulder, and she carries herself with presence and femininity. This is a young doe that promises longevity and productivity as she matures.

What makes Alys especially meaningful here is her dam (my heart goat) GCH Vita-Vierre Serena, soon to be 11 years old and entering her 11th freshening. Serena was 6th place Aged Doe at the 2025 ADGA National Show, dam to the 2025 Spotlight Sale Nubian doe, and has consistently proven durability, mammary quality, and breed character year after year. Seeing those same strengths and balance coming through in her LONG AWAITED daughter is exciting.

Alys is bred to Wingwood Farm Talent Avgust, a cross we are very excited about.

We’re counting down the days to February 19 and can’t wait to see what this special first freshener brings to the milk room and the show string.
