🌿 RISE classes are now available in the evenings, including Strong and Beyond series sessions focused on healing and breaking cycles.

Even though Monarch 61 is giving our incredible volunteers a much-needed week of rest for Thanksgiving, our support groups are STILL meeting. 🦋

🤒 “Why does my child keep getting sick?” Let’s break it down.
If you feel like your child has been sick non-stop this season… you’re not alone. Kids get sick much more often than adults — and what’s actually “normal” might surprise you.
🌿 What’s normal?
Infants & toddlers: 8–12 viral illnesses per year
Preschoolers: 6–10 per year
School-age kids: 4–8 per year
Their immune systems are learning, and every exposure builds protection.
🍬 How sugar plays a role
High sugar intake (juice, treats, holiday snacks) can temporarily suppress the immune system, making it harder for kids to fight off viruses. Even one sugary drink can affect immune cells for hours.
🌱 What you can do:
Prioritize whole foods + protein
Cut back on juice and sugary snacks
Ensure good sleep routines
Support the gut (70% of the immune system lives there!)
Handwashing + fresh air + movement
Immune-supportive supplements when appropriate
🔬 What about labs?
If a child is getting sick more often than expected, taking much longer to recover, or has unusually severe illnesses, sometimes labs are helpful to check for underlying immune, nutritional, or inflammatory issues. I can guide you through what’s appropriate for your child if needed.
