“While he was still a long way off, his father saw him… ran to him… and embraced him.” — Luke 15:20
There’s something about hitting rock bottom that will make you remember home.
The prodigal didn’t plan to end up broken, empty, and desperate—but that’s where a life apart from the Father will always lead. What looked like freedom turned into bo***ge. What felt like control turned into loss. And what he thought he wanted… nearly destroyed him.
That’s recovery.
It’s the moment you come to yourself.
The moment you realize, “This is not who I am.”
The moment you turn around.
But here’s the part that will change your life—
God is not waiting on you with shame.
He’s not standing there with a list of everything you did wrong.
He’s watching for you. When you start to turn
And the second you start coming back…
He starts running. 💥🔥💥
He doesn’t meet you halfway with conditions—He meets you with compassion. He doesn’t restore you as a project—He restores you as a son.
As a daughter.
Fully.
Completely.
That robe? That’s dignity.
That ring? That’s identity.
Those sandals? That’s purpose.
That’s restoration.
Recovery isn’t just about getting clean—it’s about coming home.
It’s about being rebuilt, redefined, and restored by a Father who never stopped loving you, even at your worst.
And for those of us walking this out every day—don’t forget: we don’t judge the ones coming back… we celebrate them. Because we were them.
No matter how far gone it looks—there is still a road back.
And there is still a Father who runs.
