Did you know that you can still leave the house unlocked and your keys in the vehicle? Far away from the city craziness there is a place you can call "home" and enjoy the joys of country living! Harlan County Health System hospital is a 19-bed Critical Access Hospital providing emergency, outpatient, inpatient, specialty clinic and surgical services from a spacious, modern facility. The hospital is located in beautiful Alma, Nebraska, near Harlan County Lake, Nebraska’s second largest body of water. Adjoining the hospital is Heartland Family Medicine, a professional medical clinic staffed by a physician and two physician assistants. Heartland provides day-to-day medical care for patients of all ages from throughout the area. Visiting specialists travel to the HCHS regularly to provide cardiology, urology, podiatry, ophthalmology, and orthotic services. Services provided by HCHS include a 24-hour emergency room; radiology, including a 16 slice CT scanner for detailed imaging of soft tissue; rehabilitation, including occupational, speech and physical therapy; an intensive care suite; a full laboratory; a state-of-the-art pharmacy; and a modern surgical suite. Emergency transportation, staffed by experienced emergency medical technicians, is provided by a licensed ambulance service. Emergency air transport to a Level II trauma center is also available. Outpatient specialty clinics are available for Cardiology, Pulmonology, Orthopedics, Specialty Hand Surgery, Urology, Podiatry and Orthotics. Nursing is provided by a dedicated, professional nursing staff, and appetizing and nutritious meals are prepared onsite.

Jessica Bergquist, PA-C, will be starting a Spine Clinic at HCHS beginning in March. Jessica specializes in Orthopedics with a special focus on spine care and works closely with Dr. Fabian and Dr. Possley to provide comprehensive, patient-centered treatment.

Jessica assists patients with diagnostic testing, pain management, and surgical planning. She is often the first provider patients see in the Ortho/Spine Clinic, helping ensure timely, thorough appointments with the surgeon. She also serves as Dr. Fabian’s first assistant in the operating room—playing a key role in your care from start to finish.

Education: Midland University; University of Nebraska Medical Center

• Herniated or degenerative disc disease
• Spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis
• Osteoarthritis of the spine
