As part of our ongoing commitment to staff safety and preparedness, GIHN welcomed Officer Mueller from the Alma Police Department this morning for an Active Shooter Training titled Run. Hide. Fight.

Officer Mueller provided valuable information, practical guidance, and real-world strategies to help our team respond effectively in the event of an emergency. We are grateful for his time and expertise in helping us strengthen our safety awareness and readiness.

Thank you, Officer Mueller, and the Alma Police Department, for your partnership and dedication to community safety.

This week, 12 more individuals — including both staff and community members — completed the Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). 💛

ASIST equips participants with practical, lifesaving “su***de first aid” skills to recognize when someone may be at risk and to respond with confidence and care.

We’re proud to share that GIHN has two fully certified ASIST trainers on staff, allowing us to continue offering this valuable training to our team and our community. Together, we’re working to make our community su***de safer and more supportive for everyone. 💛🧠

With news of the recent SNAP benefit lapse, the Joy in Work Committee at Gratiot Integrated Health Network (GIHN) didn’t hesitate to step up. Last week, our team hosted a Casual for a Cause event to support the incredible work of the Office of Human Services — an organization dedicated to helping local families meet essential needs.

Our staff enthusiastically participated, raising $388 and collecting 48 non-perishable food items, all of which will stay right here in Gratiot County to support community members in need. 🥫❤️

On September 17th, the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan and its allies gathered on the Capitol steps for a powerful press conference and rally — drawing more than 3,000 advocates from across the state.

The message was clear: Michiganders stand firmly against the MDHHS proposal to bid out the management of Michigan’s public mental health system.

Please take two minutes ⏰ to hear NAMI Advocate Emily White speak in opposition to the bid-out proposal. Emily speaks from her personal experience — a perspective shared by countless Michiganders who have benefited from CMH services. Community Mental Health provides medically necessary care that helps people improve their quality of life and remain connected to their community — putting people first, not profits.
