Cheers to our sweet residents of the month - Winnie and Tom Rooney! 🥂♥️

Tom and Winnie Rooney were born and raised in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s. Their love story began in New York City at the Jaeger House, a popular dance hall and social gathering place of the time.

Tom went on to become an apprentice with the Steamfitters Union, Local 638, while Winnie devoted herself to caring for their family and home.

They were married in Woodside, New York, and celebrated their honeymoon in the Catskill Mountains, creating memories that would mark the beginning of a lifetime together. Tom and Winnie have now been happily married for 57 years, a testament to their devotion, faith, and enduring partnership.

Tom and Winnie raised three children—Mark, an electrician; Marie, a teacher; and Tommy, an operating engineer.

The Rooney family eventually settled in New Hyde Park, a quaint town on Long Island, where Tom and Winnie spent most of their lives building a loving home and deep community ties.

Tom enjoys lunching with friends as well as home repairs, while Winnie finds joy in cooking and baking for loved ones and going on long walks. Their faith has always been an important part of their lives and continues to guide them.

They are the proud grandparents of three grandchildren—David, Cristina, and Gabriella—who bring them immense joy and with whom they love spending time.

Thank you to The Legacy Ridge at Alpharetta for welcoming Tom and Winnie and for honoring them as Residents of the Month for January 2026. Their story is one of love, family, faith, and the American dream.
