Balance & Potential, Inc.

Balance & Potential, Inc. Whether you’re struggling with emotions or want help living your best life, we are here for you!

Currently offering TeleHealth video and phone calls, this counseling center offers a wide range of mental health services, including counseling services for individuals, families, and children. Your treatment will begin with a psychological assessment to determine your needs and identify a treatment plan that best suits you and your goals in therapy. In collaboration with your therapist, you will learn strategies and skills that will make it easy for you to manage anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses. Balance & Potential specializes in DBT, or dialectical behavioral therapy, which is especially effective in treating individuals who struggle to regulate their emotions. These DBT therapists work with clients to help them accept where they’re at and what they’re feeling while also acknowledging the need for and making room for change. Through DBT and DBT skills classes, clients will identify and build on strengths, confront and understand negative thoughts, and learn new skills to help cope with stress. To learn more about DBT or to schedule an appointment with a counselor, reach out to Balance & Potential. Call them at (678) 644-0039 to schedule a free initial consultation or visit their website for more information.

We are currently offering a Family & Friends DBT Class for parents and other supportive adults.

Does someone you love struggle with stress, outbursts, anxiety, depression, or other difficulties with emotions or behavior? Join other supportive people learning ways to support your loved ones using the techniques and philosophies of DBT, led by a DBT therapist. This class covers topics including Mindfulness, Validation, and Distress Tolerance. Materials will be provided. Topics parallel those our DBT clients are learning, geared for parents and other supportive adults.

You may register for this class even if you cannot attend all of the session, which is common. In the case of families, both parents may attend all of the classes for the price of one parent. If you need to request a different class day or time, please let us know.

No intake appointment is required for the Family & Friends DBT / Parent & Support Person Class. Feel free to contact the class leader or Clinical Director, Dr. Kirsten Moore, before registering, with any questions you may have about the class.

We look forward to taking your call!

Mindfulness & Distress Tolerance, Adult DBT Class:

Dialectical Behavior Therapy classes teach clients to be mindful and aware. In this module, clients will learn how to focus on the present moment with awareness, as well as to tolerate their distress effectively.

DBT is designed to increase one's ability to be assertive, tolerate distress, and control undesired impulses. Clients learn cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness skills to better tolerate difficult life events and improve their ability to interact effectively with other people.

These scientifically-verified DBT skills teach clients how to live in the present moment, manage their urges, learn from their feelings, cope with distress, and interact well with others.

Classes are in addition to the client's one-on-one therapy and are a necessary part of DBT therapy. An initial intake interview with a Balance & Potential therapist is necessary before joining a class, and each participant must have an individual therapist.

For more information about DBT's research-backed efficacy, and about the process of DBT therapy, please visit the following pages:

Don't hesitate to reach out to us at: (678) 644-0039. We would be happy to take your call.

This exercise will help you to systematically notice the feelings in your body as the band of light slowly passes them. We hope you find it helpful and centering. Thanks for watching!
