Today we welcomed the always wonderful “Yale Wiffenpoofs” to MonteCedro. They performed to a packed house of very appreciative residents. Everyone was tapping their toes and smiling from ear to ear. It was a spectacular night!

The amazingly talented “Altadena Music Theater” returned to MonteCedro this week! It was a wonderful reunion of friendship and music, the first gathering since the Eaton Fire last year. The trio sang Broadway favorites and left the residents excited to see them perform, on stage, in the months ahead. We plan to be first in line for tickets, when they launch their first show, post fire! They are truly the best!

One year ago, the building grew quiet. On the night of January 7th, the Eaton Fire devastated Altadena and in the early hours of January 8th MonteCedro residents were evacuated to safety as the fire storm continued to march closer. Team-members, resident families, and countless neighbors lost homes. The community as we knew it, changed forever, in one night.

Today, residents came together to grieve, remember, and share hope. We held a service in the morning with MonteCedro’s Chaplain Liz and Chaplain Stephanie, and special guest Bishop Taylor, so residents could come together and find peace in prayer. In the afternoon a “Thoughts and Memories,” event was held so residents could share their stories and feelings as they looked back at their three months away from home.

The road to recovery is all around MonteCedro and for many residents and team-members the healing will take time, but we are all in it together. There is strength in community, step by step.

It was amazing to see so many leaders and residents of the Altadena Community come together last night at Grocery Outlet to honor those individuals, who were tragically lost one year ago, in the Eaton Fire. Over 1000 people were said to have been in attendance.

Our hearts continue to be with so many neighbors, including some of our employees, who lost everything on that day. We are grateful for the cooperation and leadership from all of the various recovery groups who are working to bring our community back, slowly but surely, and stronger than ever.

Today, a team from MonteCedro, took part in the in support of those recovering from the devastation of the Eaton Fire, one year ago. The skies opened and rain fell, but it did not dampen the spirit of the day as thousands of runners and walkers showed up for the beautiful city of Altadena. Tears fell as neighbors embraced and cheers filled the course as residents gathered in front of lots where their homes once stood - it was a very special event and we were so blessed to be a part of it.

Happy 2026!
Residents came together to celebrate the new year with bubbly, appetizers, and a scrumptious dinner! Everyone waved good bye to 2025, and opened their arms to embrace 2026!
