We have great appreciation for the caregivers of our patients in our inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. Caregivers can be defined as the professionals who care for the patients and also the family, friends, and resources who also care for the patient outside the hospital. Our discharge to home is one of the highest in the nation at 82%. Our medical rehabilitation teams support all caregivers by serving as advocates for our patients and families and providing them with resources, training, and emotional support during their hospital stay with our hospital and as they prepare to return to live their best life!

November is COPD Awareness Month. Respiratory health can be more challenging during the winter months, especially for people who aren’t able to enjoy fresh air and who may have a higher exposure to drier air inside their warm homes. Additionally, flu season can significantly affect people who have compromised lung conditions like COPD. Small steps, like staying active and following treatment plans, can make a big difference in managing lung conditions.

Every success story inspires us. Here’s what Maria shared about our team and our hospital:

“I had the most amazing experience at Orlando Rehabilitation Hospital. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was actually very good—I felt like I was eating at a restaurant every night. Kim, who works in occupational therapy, was the most amazing therapist I’ve ever had. Her attention to detail and caring attitude put my mind at ease and helped my recovery 1000%! Linda, the nurse assistant, was exceptional in assisting me with my daily activities. She went above and beyond her duties, even helping me rinse out some clothing I had brought. Both of these ladies were phenomenal, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. In fact, I will need another orthopedic surgery and fully intend to return here. This was truly a very, very good choice.

I would also like to acknowledge some other wonderful people who work here. Nurse Kelly is very professional, kind, and always willing to help with whatever you need. Nurse assistants Chris, Michelle, and Arlene are beautiful people with great compassion, which they express in every possible way. I truly have never been so well taken care of. Thank you to all of the staff—everyone here is supportive and kind. I feel like my family is taking care of me!

I cannot forget to thank Nurses Pansy and Brandon for their excellent care and compassion. Arlene, a nurse assistant, not only took excellent care of me but even offered to visit me when she wasn’t working. Catherine, one of the physical therapists, was not only supportive but also very knowledgeable about all rehab issues and more. Her expertise directly led to my quick recovery, and I will always be thankful to her. Lauren, another physical therapist, was very innovative and showed me new ways to exercise my sore hand. I will continue using those exercises at home.

And lastly, I would like to thank Pam, the case manager. She seamlessly transitioned my care to my home and put my mind at ease. Thank you, Pam, for your compassion and support.
I have every intention of returning here if I ever need to!!”
