✨Woohoo! Today was casting day! ✨

For pediatric Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT), we create a lightweight, custom arm cast to gently limit use of their stronger arm. This encourages their weaker arm to do the work — helping the brain rewire and build new movement pathways! 🧠✨

Each cast is carefully fitted to be comfortable, safe, and supportive, and of course expertly decorated! 🐍🎨👨‍🎨

Research suggests cortical reorganization and cortical representation is use dependent. This means you have to use your extremity in order to achieve neuroplastic changes and regain movement. But, how do you use your hand after suffering a stroke? 🧐 Awesome technology like the glove allows for functional use of the paretic hand. We love giving clients the opportunity to use their hand again!

🚨Progress alert‼️
Josh suffered a cervical spinal cord injury with central cord syndrome. When he first came to us, his arms were in excruciating pain and his range of motion was very limited since he hadn’t received stretching or passive ranging in inpatient rehab.

Over the past 1.5 years, we’ve worked on desensitizing his pain, freeing the adhesions around his scapula, and thawing his frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). We still have more work ahead, but the progress so far is solid—and a true testament to Josh’s hard work and persistence! 💪✨
