Happy Birthday to a true Alton legend, Miss Eunice Smith! 🎂✨

Today, we celebrate the 151st anniversary of the birth of the woman who helped build the heart of our healthcare community. Born on March 23, 1875, Eunice wasn't just a founder; she was a hands-on visionary.

Did you know?
The Ultimate Gift: In 1937, Eunice and her family donated 75 acres of their beautiful Elm Ridge estate to ensure the people of Alton had a modern hospital. 🌳🏥

A Secret Historian: If you visit the hospital today, you can step back in time at the Ryrie Milnor History Room. It’s filled with incredible artifacts, including Eunice’s personal items and photos that tell the story of how our community grew. 📚📸

Beyond the Hospital: Her generosity knew no bounds—she also donated the land for Rock Spring Park and was a lifelong supporter of the Hayner Library and the YWCA. 🌟

Eunice’s spirit of service is still felt in every hallway of Alton Memorial Hospital. Please join us in honoring the "First Lady of Alton" today! 👒💙

Save the Date for Ribbons of Strength! 💜

Our Ribbons of Strength event will be held April 30th from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Bluff City Grill! We are so grateful to Cathy Gross and her staff for helping us plan such a wonderful event!

This touching evening honors those currently fighting cancer and remembers those we have lost. It is a special time for our community to come together so that no one has to fight alone.

How you can help:
Purchase a Ribbon: You can honor a loved one by purchasing a personalized ribbon. These will be displayed during the event.

Support Local Patients: 100% of proceeds stay right here in our community. Funds benefit the Alton Memorial Health Services Foundation’s “You’ve Got a Friend” and “Extra Mile” funds, helping local patients pay for essentials like gas cards, car repairs, and utility bills so they can focus on their treatment and healing.

We had a wonderful event last Saturday! A big thank you to those who came to play in our first Pickleball Tournament!
