🍀 Honoring the Roots That Came Before Us
This year St. Patrick’s Day feels a little different for me.
For most of my life I believed my ancestry was Italian. Recently, after doing DNA research through Ancestry, I discovered that much of my heritage actually traces back to Ireland, Scotland, and other Celtic roots.
Learning this has been both surprising and deeply meaningful.
In many Celtic traditions, there is a strong reverence for ancestors and lineage — the understanding that we are not separate from those who came before us. Their stories, resilience, struggles, and wisdom all live within us.
The work we do in healing spaces often reaches further back than we realize.
When we learn to regulate our nervous system, process emotions, and reconnect with our bodies, we are not just healing ourselves — we are also shifting patterns that may have lived in our families for generations.
Today I’m taking a moment to honor the ancestors whose lives made mine possible.
And I’m grateful for the opportunity to do work that supports healing not only for ourselves, but for the generations that will come after us. May the roots beneath us run deep, and may the wisdom of our ancestors guide our steps. 🍀
